The Bay City Rollers
(as "The Rollers")
Canadian Paper Bag Promo
"Collector's Edition"
Epic Records PEC80000 1981 12" 33rpm (Canada)
This album was released in Canada wrapped in a brown paper bag which said: "Contains One Outstanding Album". Record buyers were told if they liked this album and wanted to have thier names appear on the inside cover when the band was revealed with the official release that they were to send in the card that came with album. The songwriters were identified as Tom, Dick, Harry and Sam. Many favourable reviews came forth and comparisons were made to other major artists like Phil Collins and Paul McCartney. When the album came out worldwide several critics were pleasantly surprised to find out it was The Rollers. For a change they didn't knock the band on this album, no longer bubblegum. A tour of the US occured. Alas this was the swan song for the band with finances in turmoil the band decided it was time to pack it in. Stuart and Duncan wanted to contInue but be based in LA while the rest wanted to return to the UK. The band quietly disbanded with Eric going solo, Alan and Derek retiring and Staurt and Duncan forming Karu based in LA

A Note About Shipping To The U.S.
We are located in Canada, but have registered ourselves on eBay.com instead of eBay.ca because it gives us significantly better global exposure. The problem with this is that eBay wants us to charge shipping appropriate to US, where media mail and other options make for fairly reasonable delivery costs. We tried it for a while but ended up losing money on shipping or having to cancel the orders because we couldn't afford to ship for those rates. To manage this we have set the US shipping to run a calculator based on an American location (we chose Plattsburgh as fairly close) and charging according to UPS pricing. This avoids the cancellation issue, but appears to the buyer to be a prohibitive shipping cost and misrepresents the shipping as being only expedited. If you give us your postal code we will see if we can offer a more reasonable option, but generally we can get a single LP by air to most places in the continental US for $11, a few bucks less for ground.
