BAKERLOO - BAKERLOO (SELF TITLED) SHVL 762 FIRST PRESSING

Artist: Bakerloo

Title: Bakerloo (Self Titled)

Cat. Number: SHVL 762 (1E 062 o 90519)

Matrix: SHVL 762 A-2 G 1 // SHVL 762 B-2 A 1

This is the only album released by Bakerloo (previously "Bakerloo Blues Line"). A three piece band (guitar, bass guitar and drum) founded in Tamworth in 1968. Bakerloo were a genuinely progressive act - they took the experiments of bands like Cream and Ten Years After one step further by adding stronger elements of jazz and classical into their blues rock based music. Considering the album came out in 1969, it's way ahead of the pack.

The album, when released received very enthusiastic reviews and the band had a sizeable cult following. Sadly the record sold in small quantities.

Condition: Please see the photos, the vinyl is graded as very good plus, there are spindle marks on the label when angled to the light. There are one or two marks on the playing surface but nothing that spoils the listening enjoyment. I have played this record through from start to finish and it sounds lovely, it has that quality only a record from the late 60's or early 70's has. I find it very difficult to give a grading of higher than very good plus for a 50 year old record and this is a great example of this bluesy/progressive rock release.

The cover I'd grade as very good plus (this is a 50 year old sleeve, but without any major issues). Laminated front and rear is in great condition, there is a little feathering on the opening edge and with age, the white isn't as white as it originally was. This is one of the best sleeves I've seen on this release though.

As far as I can tell, this is a first press from November 1969. There is no EMI logo on the record label and the matrix numbers are correct for that release.

Postage by 2nd class signed for is £5. I will combine postage to be as cost effective as I can make it (preference is to use Royal Mail or Parcelforce).
