BUD POWELL “The Scene Changes The Amazing…” Blue Note Records 4009, “P”, “RVG,” DG mono vinyl.
This is the mono, Deep Grooved, “RVG”-stamped, “P”-pressing of BUD POWELL’s “The Scene Changes The Amazing Bud Powell” on the 47 West 63rd labels of Blue Note BLP 4009. Musicians include Powell, Paul Chambers, Art Taylor.
VINYL has consistent low-level surface noise throughout. Each side noisier at front than at end. Some pops and ticks which also lessen as the side progresses. Music is reproduced rich and clear, with no distortion, no warps, no skips, as is the custom with all 1st pressing Lexington to New York USA Blue Note pressings, regardless of imperfections. A handful of one to three-inch hairline marks, three feelable. Superb dynamics throughout. The Deep Grooved “47 West 63rd” labels are clean with spindle marks and some foxing on Side 2.
.The reissue COVER is in excellent condition. Solid colors and inking. No spine split. Cracking on lower seam; top seam entirely split. Corners worn. See photos. “Blue Note Records Inc., 43 West 61st St., New York 21” back jacket in excellent condition. Corners worn. See photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge/Music Hall Moo Mat, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with revealing ribbon tweeters). All vinyl cleaned on a VPI 16.5.
