BUD POWELL "The Amazing Bud Powell, Volume 2" Blue Note 1504, "P", "RVG," DG, Mono Vinyl.
This is the 1954, RVG-etched, Deep-Groove, Frame Cover, Flat Rim, "P"-pressing of BUD POWELL's "The Amazing Bud Powell, Volume 2" on the 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels of Blue Note BLP 1504. Musicians include Curly Russell, Max Roach, Fats Navarro, Sonny Rollins, Tommy Potter, Roy Haynes, Art Taylor and George Duvivier.
This is a well-recorded and punchy-sounding disc with excellent detail and resolution of all instruments. VINYL has two feelable scratches. Vinyl has consistent low to medium level surface noise; some spots louder than others. As with all Lexington Ave to New York USA Blue Note pressings, imperfections do not detract from this powerfully recorded, engineered and pressed vinyl. Instruments are clear, rich, full of tone, very dynamic, with no distortion or tizz in upper frequencies. No skips. No locked grooves. Good gloss. The Deep-Grooved 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels show minimal wear and are largely clean. Address Sticker one side, "Pops" on the other side. Minimal spindle marks.
COVER is worn but no seam splits or spine split. Worn corners. "767 Lexington Ave., New York 21" back jacket shows ring-wear on left side, clean, some signs of fading and aging. See photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
