Description
Auction is for a RARE ORIGINAL CANADIAN-ONLY PRESSING of BRUCE MACKAY'S "IS" LP from 196? on Gamma Records. Second and last LP from this Montreal singer-songwriter and arguably more powerful then his debut for ESP. Very rare and elusive, the last copy up for auction went for almost $60. Cover has some ring & shelf wear, 2" split at top left corner and 1" split at top right at jacket opening. Vinyl has a few very light scuffs, just shy of NM.

Montreal singer-songwriter Bruce MacKay was doing the club-circuit around New York when he cut an interesting (and now cult) folk-rock LP on the ORO/ESP label in late1967. MacKay has since harnessed somewhat of a cult status on the basis of that album.
What's unknown to most collectors is that a year & a half later, back home in Quebec, MacKay recorded an extremely obscure second album, this time on the Gamma label ....so obscure that it doesn't even appear on most listed discographies and artist bios. While his '67 self-titled debut was recently given the CD-re-issue treatment (re-titled "Midnight Minstrel"), his follow-up on Gamma has not and is now long out-of-print, and still under most collectors' radars......Rare indeed!
The self-titled Gamma LP (released the same time as another rare Gamma recording.... by the coveted group "Medium") again combines elements of Bob Dylan, Tim Buckley and Phil Ochs, with MacKay's lovely smokey detached vocals highlighting the 10 self-penned songs. Superb musicianship throughout, although absolutely no credits given anywhere on the album.
Condition of Cover/Vinyl is VG / VG++.
