*** INSANELY RARE RITA MARLEY'S PRIVATE PRESSING ON HER PROPRIETARY "RITA MARLEY MUSIC"  LABEL; LESS THAN 300 ARE BELIEVED TO HAVE EVER BEEN MADE, PROBABLY LESS THAN HALF OF THIS NUMBER SURVIVE TODAY; QUITE POSSIBLY THE RAREST MARLEY RELEASE EVER***

·       ORIGINAL JAMAICAN. PRESSING (?)

·       ORIGINAL 'RASTA' RITA MARLEY MUSIC LABEL, COMBINING THE JAH COLORS: RED, GREEN AND YELLOW.

·       INCLUDES THE PRACTICALLY NEVER SEEN SINGLE-PAGE INSERT, SIGNED BY NONE OTHER THAN JAH RASTAFARI (JUDGING BY THE MULTITUDE OF SPELLING AND TYPING ERRORS, MR. JAH COULD USE A REMEDIAL SPELLING COURSE OR TWO). ·       ORIGINAL, THICK CARDBOARD COVER (AMERICAN STYLE); PLEASE NOTE: UNUSUALLY HIGH-GRADE CONSTRUCTION OF THE COVER MAY POINT TO NON-JAMAICAN ORIGIN OF THIS PRESSING; IT IS ENTIRELY POSSIBLE THAT THIS IS A JAPANESE BOOT (A NUMBER OF JAPANESE NATIONALS WERE GIVEN CREDIT ON THE ALBUM'S INSERT).

Bob Marley's final concert was first immortalized on this impossibly rare Rita Marley private Jamaican pressing from 1992. Marley was touring the U.S. in support of the release of his album Uprising, and that brought him and the Wailers to the Stanley Theatre in Pittsburgh, PA, on September 23, 1980. After the show, he traveled to New York to prepare for an appearance at Madison Square Garden, but collapsed while jogging in Central Park; he died of cancer less than eight months later. On the basis of this recording, he exhibits no sign of his illness, running through a 20-song set that is heavy on selections from such recent albums as Rastaman Vibration ("Positive Vibration," "Crazy Baldhead," "War"), Exodus ("Natural Mystic," "The Heathen," "Exodus"), and Kaya ("Running Away," "Is This Love"), as well as five songs from Uprising, but light on earlier albums such as Catch a Fire, Burnin', and Natty Dread. In particular, fans will note the absence of "I Shot the Sheriff." This is not surprising, but it marks the show as a later one in Marley's career. This is more a representative performance than a particularly inspired one, though it is notable for live readings of such Uprising favorites as "Redemption Song" (on which the acoustic guitar is augmented with conga drums) and "Could You Be Loved." Its historical importance derives from its being Marley's last show.

·       CONDITION:

·       RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS EXCELLENT. This is one of those albums that are somewhat difficult to grade. It is somewhere between VG++ and NEAR MINT, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions ARE visible, but they are extremely shallow, superficial  and only moderately visually distracting (nothing significant). For the most part, the vinyl looks impeccable without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           The album comes with the original single-sheet album insert

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
