Description

BOB DYLAN – MIXED UP CONFUSION b/w CORRINA, CORRINA – WHITE LABEL PROMO WITH ORIGINAL PROMOTIONAL OUTER SLEEVE - Columbia 4-42656 (U.S. 45 rpm Mono)

. Disc is G+ in appearance, but audio playback is strong VG+ or better; Labels are VG-; Red and White Columbia Outer Sleeve is VG (writing on one side of sleeve says “VG+/VG-” and “49 c”). This sleeve was unique to promo copies of this title.

Mixed Up Confusion, Bob’s Dylan’s first-ever Columbia single, received negligible airplay, never charted and never sold. Numerous Commercial copies were returned to Columbia and the copies that did survive, did so in rather low numbers. It’s debatable if promos are harder to find today than commercial issues, but one thing is sure. Far fewer copies of the white label promos were pressed than commercial copies. This, the original 45 rpm single, is the first of four different takes in circulation of this recording. Though this is a white label promo, the label printing is commensurate with commercial label variant No. 2 with “Prod. By John Hammond,” below Dylan’s name at the bottom of the label. However, as it is a promo, the legend “Not For Sale Radio Station Copy” under the Columbia moniker at the top is only found on promos. The B side, Corrina, Corrina, is an alternate take to that found on The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan, which both of these cuts were originally recorded for. There are numerous other details to report on this very rare record, but to do so would take up way too much space here. Please refer to the Dylan collectible website, Searching For A Gem, for everything you could possibly want to know about this recording: http://www.searchingforagem.com/1960s/1962.htm. Additionally, the flipside, Corrina, Corrina, is an alternate take to that found on the album “The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan.” [Due to their faster turning speed and wider groove spread, 45 rpm pressings exhibit more detailed playback than LP pressings, which turn slower and feature more compacted groove spread.]

All vinyl records from VinylKing46 (eBay’s ORIGINAL VINYLKING) are pre-cleaned and inserted into paper inner sleeves before mailing to Buyer (unless factory sealed). Discs are packaged separately from sleeves to protect against seam splitting. Sleeves are inserted into mylar outer sleeves and both disc and sleeve are shipped in 7” EP/45-specific boxes and packed with bubble wrap or hard cardboard.

I grade conservatively and by Goldmine standards.
