Is it a bird….??? Noooooooo!!!! Is it a plane??? Noooooooo!!!! Is it a Superman???  Noooooooo!!!!  Is it a (gasp!)…Flying impregnator?!?!?  YOU BET YOUR SWEET POSTERIOR IT IS!!

On the cover of their first (and only) album, Blind Faith slyly presented a color photo of a young - and somewhat slightly underdressed - lass (a consenting adult, no doubt), toying around with an mysterious flying object looking suspiciously like a 'certain' part of human anatomy [we are not allowed to tell you which one, but we WILL tell you this much:  it is NOT Barbra Streisand’s nose], masquerading as an odd-shaped airplane with an oversized cockpit area. Alas, nobody was fooled (presumably, each member of the buying public either owns -  or has experienced firsthand  - one of these mysterious-looking objects). We assure you that the young lady on the cover WASN’T exactly advertising Virgin Airlines ™ when she posed for the cover (perhaps the photo in question was more suitable as an ad for the UK Royal Air Force?)

Needless to say, the mysterious flying object penetrated the defense lines of the guardians of the public morals, flew in the face of the shocked and offended puritans and met stiff resistance from the social conservatives, causing the embarrassed record label to go limp: within weeks from release, ATCO had to je®k, er…yank the offensive cover off the market and replace it with a lame, neutered “politically correct” version showing a nondescript, bland photo of the band members (three erect, one sitting) . Call it a real bad case of HARD landing.

Three big boooos, yikes and hisses to ATCO for the lack of artistic glands. The moral of the story: a bird in hand is worth…a brickload of bad publicity!

Needless to say, these "offensive" covers are tens, possibly hundreds of times harder to find than the subsequent, censored,  "group photo" covers.

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VG++, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions (probably just sleeve scuffs inflicted in storage over the years) ARE VISIBLE, but they appear fairly  insignificant relative to the overall condition of the vinyl, and are only moderately visually distracting. For most part, the vinyl looks impeccable, without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(c)           The album comes with its original insert / lyrics sheet

(d)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER (THIS IS THE ORIGINAL, UNCENSORED, WITHDRAWN, COVER)

COVER IS STRONG NEAR MINT,  STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL  ►SHRINK WRAP (A SMALL PIECE OF SHRINK WRAP IS MISSING)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has a visible wrinkle (crease) in the cardboard base on the front panel (nothing significant)

-        Cover has a tiny, barely visible peel-off mark, probably from the careless removal of the price sticker (less than 1/16th square inch in size)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No split seams

-        No ring wear

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No yellowing from aging

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-        No stains

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
