Description
Hi, my name is Brian and I have been collecting vinyl for many years. My main interest has been PROGRESSIVE especially the VERTIGO SWIRL/SPIRAL LABEL, reputed to be the most collectable label in the world?
I have finally finished my SWIRL collection of over 160 albums of which most are UK pressings, and now I am going to SELL them ( I must be mad ). I have been quite fussy about the QUALITY, CONDITION and they must be the VERY FIRST PRESSINGS. The latter has been the hardest to decipher and has had me buying and selling many copies of the same album to achieve this, and I almost have with these collectable gems.
I am not and have never been a 'dealer' by profession, but I have always given honest descriptions and lots of clear photo's of any items I have sold. I do know how disappointing it is when you open that package and the item has been over sold with expressions such as "AWESOME" etc when the item is only in EX- condition or worse. If you are in anyway disappointed with an item from me you are most welcome to return it with a FULL REFUND, providing it is an honest and just mistake by myself as I believe in my descriptions.
COLLECTING SWIRL ALBUMS AND ESPECIALLY FINDING CORRECT VERY FIRST PRESSINGS CAN BE REAL MINE FIELD. SO I HAVE DECIDED TO LIST 4 DIFFERENT RELEASES OF PARANOID BEFORE THEY CHANGED FROM VERTIGO.
THE FOURTH PRESS...
1. This sleeve was presented LAMINATED ONLY. The Management/Jim Simpson, BigBear, Birmingham line of information has now been removed.
Jim Simpson was Black Sabbaths manager, but just as Paranoid was released they sacked him. It was too late to withdraw the first batch of sleeves but was quickley corrected for the next sleeve print.
2. The original label design was the famous SWIRL/SPIRAL designed by Roger Dean. When vertigo decided to change the label design they called on Roger Dean again and he gave us the 'spaceship' or 'jelly fish' label as it is sometimes called.
3. This press is exactly the same as the 2nd and 3rd apart from the label designes. It is typicaly of quality vinyl and caries the same matrix/ release numbers.
IF ANY OF THE ABOVE INFORMATION IS UN CLEAR OR YOU HAVE OTHER INFORMATION PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT ME.
SO HERE WE GO.......
For sale here is --BLACK SABBATH--PARANOID-- UK ORIGINAL FOURTH PRESSING WITH ORIGINAL SLEEVE,197?, stereo 6360 011 The 17th of 87 UK pressings on this label. MORE WILL FOLLOW!
SLEEVE.....GATEFOLD and LAMINATED. . It is in GREAT condition showing MINIMALwear. It is very flat and square. The colours are very strong and vibrant LIKE NEW. The bottom edge is N/MINT. The top edge is also in N/MINT condition with NO wear. The front is EX+ with NO UNWANTED WRITING, NO STICKER TEARS, NO STICKERS AND NO STAINING and VERY MINOR SURFACE RUB, just a little creasing. The rear is in the same wonderful EX+ condition with NO RING WEAR. The opening edges are in lovely condition with no tears and almost no feathering. The spine shows some wear and a little laminate loss only to the edge but is fully ledgible. The inside gatefold is in fantastic condition and is clean and bright and SUPERB, N/MINT.The very tips of the corners show very light wear. All in all this is in wonderful condition for a sleeve of this age. EX.
LABELS.....There is NO unwanted writing, staining, stickers, residue or tears. there are minimal spindle marks. N/MINT
VINYL....Both sides of this fantastic album still have their JUST PRESSED deep black shine. When you hold this album in the very brightest of lights you can see very few very faint surface hair lines which are very light and mostly cased removal and replacement in and out of the inner sleeve, there are no nasty scratches or marks . In normal daylight this album looks PRISTINE. Both sides play WITHOUT SCRATCHES, CLICKS OR JUMPS. I have played this album on my very sensitive and revealing LINN SONDEK and the sound is UN-WORN, it is full and crisp there is NO loss of sound quality at all, wonderful sound stage and stereo seperation. There are VERY FEW dust crackles that can be heard only in the quiet parts of the music or between tracks, but a professional clean should sort out most of that. These HEAVY VINYL 70's pressings are second to none. This really is a great copy that any collector would be delighted to add to their collection, a real KEEPER . ESENTIAL FOR THE SABBATH COMPLETEST! N/MINT-N/MINT, nice copy!!
ALTHOUGH THIS IS NOT A SWIRL PRESS IT IS JUST AS IF NOT RARER THAN THAT, VERY FEW OF THESE COME UP FOR SALE COMPARED TO THE OTHERS.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.
I prefer payment by paypal, UK bidders may use a personal cheque.
