ANOTHER FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION! ONLY EVER PLAYED TO PUT ON TO TAPE AND STORED ALL OF THESE YEARS!!!! BELEIVE ME I KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO FIND THIS PRESSING IN THIS CONDITION AND THIS IS ONE OF MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE 'BLACK SABBATH ALBUMS' THIS WILL BE HARD TO SURPASS AND IS VERY (VERY COLLECTABLE AND SOUGHT AFTER LIKE THIS!!!!

Black Sabbath are an English heavy metal band from Birmingham. The original band line up of Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Terence "Geezer" Butler (bass), and Bill Ward (drums) is the same as the current line up (2007) although there have been many shifts of personnel over the years.

Black Sabbath remain a dominant influence in the heavy metal genre

Paranoid is the influential and iconic second album by British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, and contains some of their most famous work, including the songs "Iron Man", "War Pigs", and the title track "Paranoid."

Released September 18, 1970 in the UK, only seven months after the band's debut, Paranoid is Black Sabbath's only UK #1 album, displacing Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water for one week.

Paranoid peaked at number 12 on Billboard's Pop Albums chart (North America). The singles "Paranoid" and "Iron Man" peaked at number 61 and number 52, respectively, on the Pop singles chart. "Paranoid" as a single went to number 4 in the UK. In 2003, the album was ranked number 130 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

The original UK vinyl release was in a gatefold sleeve, with the generic Vertigo 'swirl' inner bag. The inner of the gatefold had a b/w photo of the band, posed outdoors on a grassy hill, being their first appearance on album artwork. To spread the original picture over the gatefold, Osbourne was separated from the other members of the band and a section of the grass was copied and dropped into the gap. This is only readily apparent when one sees that original promo photo, whereupon it is then easy to spot the added grass on the LP.

The album was originally titled "War Pigs" but it is said that the record company changed it to "Paranoid" because of sensitivity about the Vietnam War. However, the band's visual interpretation of a "War Pig" was still featured on the cover. Nonetheless, the album's title and its picture of man with a sword jumping out from behind a tree meshed well together and the cover is now considered a classic album cover.

The original VERTIGO labels are graded as new condition features the swirl on side a. and the swirl logo and track listings on side b.(only early press)!!!!! All rights.... are featured around the label rim(only early press)!!!!!!! I can hardly see any spidering and of coarse (no) spindle ware   This has only ever been played three or four times only from new!!! so rare  for an album that is 37 years old!!!!! very very collectable!!!

The vinyl.

The vinyl is absolutely superbe on initial visual inspection this looks like new and still retains its sheen from new!!!!!! (please note this vinyl has only ever been  played three or four times by me personally and indeed hardly ever played at all !!!! nor are there any signs of grooveware or distortion!!!! I have played this through track for track prior to listing and the audio quality is superbe TOP TOP TOP!cristal clear and extreemely vibrant!!!! (In strong light there is (no) needle scratches audio sounding at least i couldn't see any even in extreeme light, at least (none) that effect the audio at all!!! Any marks that could possibly be seen would have been caused by the vinyl been slid in and out of its sleeve!!! Please note! this vinyl has been stored seperately from the cover in a poly sleeve for all of its storage life!!! Thios is the way I always  have stores my records!!!! The audio on this pressing in my opinion is as good as it gets for a very early pressing!!!!!Even in between tracks there is extreemely minimal noise!!! This almost plays as new!!!This is the best audio that i have heard of this pressing!! AS GOOD AS IT GETS!!! I would class myself as highly critical and this is a truly exceptional sounding vinyl and the 2ND EVER ALBUM RELEASED  by this awesome band ''black sabbath''!!!!!!!! Please check my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!

Please note! That i always make this disclaimer! That although I never heard any clicks or pops during the play of this record please allow for the odd static tick here and there certainly not consistant throughout the audio, but this is a genuine 37 year old vinyl that would have been played on a 37 year old system!!!!!

This is the original gatefold  (laminated) cover RARELY EVER SEEN IN THIS NEAR PRISTINE CONDITION!!!! very near pristine   this shows very (very) minimal storage ware\creases WORTH MENTIONING spine (see photo) superbe condition of this 1st pressing cover which is nearly 37 years old!!!!!!!! (no) splits (no) tares (no) nasty hand writing!!!! IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND LIKE THIS!!!!! This also is one of the best covers that i have seen of this pressing truly awesome(see photo) NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE FROM THIS!!!!!!

This is the original vertigo poly lined sleeve (no) splits or tares just light staining with age!!!! In superbe condition !!!! and original !!!! PLEASE NOTE! THE VINYL IS ALWAYS STORED SEPERATELY FROM THE ORIGINAL SLEEVE.!!!!!
