BIRTHRIGHT - Free Spirits Freelance Records (cat# FS-1) Original 1974 Private Pressing
This is a beautiful copy of Birthright's classic LP Free Spirits. It was self-released in 1974 on their label Freelance Records (cat# FS-1). The band consists of Joe Ford (sax), Paul Gresham (sax) and Nasara Abadey (drums) with the help of Onaje Allen Gumbs, Jim Kurzdorfer, and Jimmy Manuel. The record is a beauty and is reminiscent of the music of Coltrane. The cover suffers from edge wear along the top and bottom, corner wear, a seam split (just short of an inch at the top opening - see photo) and some rubbing on the front and back covers (rubbing looks worse in the photos). The vinyl is absolutely mint with not a mark or a scratch on it. This is an incredibly rare record and despite the cover flaws, it is well worth the price we are asking. it has been in storage for 20 years and has not been played much. This will make an outstanding addition to your private press, free jazz, cosmic jazz, spiritual jazz, soul jazz or modal jazz collection. Please have a look at the photos!
