The “Biro Quartet”, founded in Budapest in 1946, have always had the same constitution, except for the cello position, which had Laszlo Varga (USA), György Fejér (Hungary) and finally Lajos Frank.
In December 1956, due to the political problems in his country, Joseph Biro moved to Austria and then to Rio de Janeiro where he settled for some time.
The record offered here is a Mega Rare Private Recording made in Rio de Janeiro in the 1960’s and sponsored by The Lions Club of Rio de Janeiro. The recording quality is not of the highest rate (this is a semi-professional private recording), but the music playing is from another world.
Joseph Biro was one of the greatest violinist of his time and perhaps one of the most underrated violinist we ever know.

Haydn: String Quartet in G major, Op. 77 No. 1
Dvorak: String Quartet in F major, Op. 96 (American)
Cover Condition: VG+ (some corner wear/some right side edge wear. Please Note: The cover is normally opened at the top and bottom edges)
Record Condition: VG (The record has some surface scratches and hairlines. It is still enjoyable to listen to, in my view, despite some background surface noise/ticks).
