Likely the most influential album of my life. I first heard immediately after meeting my wife, which cemented in my mind. Especially the first side has a series of five songs which have all served as "my favorite song ever" at one time or another during my life. The first song, "O My Soul" is a rollicking potential train wreck that seems just barely able to hold together until the end, it is such a force barely contained. The last, "You Get What You Deserve", is a perfectly constructed angry pop son filled with venom but still gives me chills 30 years after I first heard it. And finally, "September Gurls" has influenced bands from REM to The Replacements to Cheap Trick. Lastly, "Daisy Glaze"'s admonition of "You're gonna die!" speaks to Alex and Chris and the fate we all face. Yeah. It means something to me. Not much doubt.

This is easily everybody's most praised popular and critical cult favorite of the '70s: the much-sought Big Star's second - and according to Alex Chilton  - the last real album released by the Big Star. Big Star, who were neighbors, contemporaries and label-mates (Ardent was a Stax subsidiary) of such Stax/Volt legends as Booker T. and the MG's, Carla and Rufus Thomas, or Albert King, created a lasting masterpiece of rocking urgency, bold harmonies, twanging guitars, intricate chord changes and some real loud, intense R&R. A masterpiece of 70s power-pop, and a great album, if ever we’d met one. The album was pressed as the band was disintegrating, to minimal promotion and advertising, and nice copies are brutally hard to come by. Finding a still sealed original copy of this southern Power Pop Masterpiece?!?! Forget it – not even a HOPE!!! This may be the last one you will ever see.

(b)          The record is  apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

COVER IS NEAR MINT, STILL SEALED AND COVERED IN ITS ORIGINAL ►SHRINK WRAP  (A TINY PIECE OF SHRINK WRAP - LESS THAN 1 SQUARE INCH - IS MISSING)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has a small cutout saw-mark (an indent about 3-5 mm long ) on one of its seams.

-        Cover has a light "wrinkle" (crease)  in two corners.   (nothing significant)

-         Cover has two corners slightly dinged (nothing significant)

-         Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the bottom seam and spine (BARELY VISIBLE)
