Notes

Before "Jesus Christ Superstar," the Bethlehem Progressive Ensemble presented from 1962~1971 contemporary worship in college chapels and churches from New York to Miami. Still featured on BBC Radio and the “Gilles Peterson Digs America Vol.2” CD is "Make Straight" (listed in error as "Make Way") as re-released by Ubiquity Records 9/25/2007. The Ensemble was patterned after the Modern Jazz Quartet (MJQ): piano, bass, drums, and vibraharp, plus vocal. Song-stylist Nancy Desiderio and composer\pianist Robin Miller still perform. Recorded 1965 before a live audience at The Chalfont and Haddon Hall Hotel (later Resorts), Atlantic City, and repeated at Town Hall, New York City. The homily on the LP is given by the late Rev. John Gensel, pastor to the jazz community of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, New York City.
