The seventh studio LP by Nashville-based singer and songwriter Ben Rector, Magic follows behind the success of his first Top Ten album, 2016's Brand New. Rector's debut for OK Kid Recordings (via AWAL), it was produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Belle and Sebastian) and John Fields (Goo Goo Dolls, Soul Asylum). Inspired in part by the birth of his first child, Magic shares the agreeable character and general cheerfulness of his best-known prior material. Highlights include the playful, affectionate "Duo" (which is flush with pop culture references) and the sentimental vacation appreciation "Green."
