(NM or NM-) NM records are shiny with no visible defects such as writing, stickers or needle marks on the labels. The album cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or any signs of human handling. It also will have no ring wear.

(VG+) or (Excellent) May show some slight signs of wear, including light scuffs or very light scratches that do not affect the listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK. Minor signs of handling are OK. The cover might be marred by a cutout marking, small hole punch, a cut in the spine or a promotional stamp and even a tiny bit of ring wear.

(VG) Have more obvious flaws such as lack of gloss, groove wear, light scratches and needle marks. When played there will be surface noise that will not overpower the music overall. Noise in the passages, between songs is common. The cover may have minor seam splits, writing, tape, stickers, ring wear and scuffs.

(VG-) Is just a compounding of the VG category. Many obvious flaws but if the record is rare, may very well be worthwhile. I usually do not list records lower than the above grades.

Remember, when you are bidding, most of these records are usually 50+ years old and have been out of print for a very long time. When you consider that, damage, loss, and normal use or wear has reduced the market to the point that few of these wonderful treasures are even available today.

FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION: I purchased this wonderful Wanda Jackson album in the winter of 1958, played just once prior to listing and was convinced that Wanda Jackson would become a legend. She was and is a legend. Still in the original Capital Sleeve, you are bidding for a beautiful 1958 first pressing of Wanda Jackson and recorded on Capital Label T-1041 in High Fidelity. This is the Multi-Color Band, with Silver Print and the Capital Logo on the left side of the spindle hole, valued for $300+ NM in the Goldmine Price Guide and this beauty is one of them. The 53 year old thick album cover is in excellent condition and will be a most proud addition to the Music Room. There is no discoloration, ring wear, tears, writing or wrinkles, just a small 3" upper right corner seam split I repaired shortly after I purchased the album in 1958. The liner notes and photos are like new, no discoloration and a very small inspection stamp in the lower left corner. The black, shiny record is beautiful and the labels MINT, no spindle marks. I inspected this wonderful, most rare record under a 100 watt light and there were no scratches, scuffs or groove lines and few light feathered/paper cuts from removing the record from the sleeve. I also played this prize for the first time in over 50 years and there were no skips, sticks, loud pops or hisses. The record plays as if new. The songs include; Side 1, Day Dreaming, I wanna Waltz, Heartbreak Ahead, Making Believe, Here We Are Again, Long Tall Sally. Side 2, Just Call Me Lonesome, Let Me Go Lover, Money Honey, I Can't Make My Dreams Understand, Happy Happy Birthday, Let's have A Party. For the most serious 50's historians and collectors, this is a must and one of the cleanest you will find. Based on the Goldmine guide, The album cover is graded VG+, the quality of the listening experience NM and the record NM-. There is no reserve.
