The Beatles Yellow Submarine (mono pressing) is probably one of the hardest and rarest UK Beatles albums to find in my opinion!

Another from my personal collection, I have accumilated more than 50,000 UK albums over the past 45 years, and over 1000 of these are UK Beatles albums! I am fortunate that I purchased a few original copies of this album over the years, but I have noticed that the earliest and rarest is the MONO pressing and rarely ever surfaces for sale in any condition! If anyone has had the good fortune to hear these originals would understand that the shear vibrancy and quality of these monos can not be surpassed in any other format available and in my opinion will never be surpassed. Certainly having compared this pressing to the 1st issue stereo edition there is no comparison in my opinion! It is hard for me to put in to words, the vibrancy and truly rich feel that this album produced on my systems absolutely beautiful astounding audio quality! Play tested at very loud volume on my garard turntable using a dedicated mono cartridge the audio was stunningly as good as you could ever get in my opinion !  This is the original 1st press and earliest MONO recording VERY sought after and highly collectable especially in this condition! Many copies are found with the usual surface noise\distortion and have been played to death! and played with inferior systems,,, I should know , I have found and purchased many copies over the years, only to be dissapointed by this! This is from my personal collection of Beatles records barely played more than a handful of times and this has been stored in a case for all of that time, at least 35 years! The only reason that I have decided to put this album up for auction is that i am fortunate to have other copies in my collection! This MONO pressing in my opinion is a far superior sound\mix than the LATER  stereo pressings. For those who know the type of records that I list would know that my hobby and main interest is the audio quality! This album listed is probably, in fact is,,, one of the best that i have heard of this pressing! The true test of this album is the second side!, which has very quiet slow classical tracks, which an only possibly be enjoyed free of surface noise in my opinion, (NO) distortion (no) loud clicks or pops this is cristal clear and vibrant throughout, any static crackle or ticks are isolated to the odd quiet place only.! Absolutely  impossible to ever find like this! Also an important issue is the mother stampers!, from my experiance the earliest stampers make all the difference and of course pressed from the earliest master available in this format!! 

Yellow Submarine is the tenth official album released by The Beatles. It was the soundtrack to the animated film of the same name!!!!.

In contrast to how the film was received, Yellow Submarine is usually considered The Beatles' weakest album, as it featured only six songs by the band. The Beatles did not consider it a studio album, since the four previously-unreleased tracks on it were recorded at various times in 1967 and early 1968!!!!

Only a Northern Song" was originally recorded during the sessions for the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album, although it did not appear there. Most of the song was recorded in February 1967!

 "It's All Too Much" was recorded just before the release of Sgt. Pepper, although it was shortened (from eight minutes) for Yellow Submarine!

 "Hey Bulldog" (recorded in February 1968) and "All Together Now" (recorded in May 1967) were always intended for the film soundtrack!

"Baby You're a Rich Man" was also originally intended for the film soundtrack, but was released as the B-side to "All You Need is Love" instead and was not included in the Yellow Submarine album!

Two of the songs on the album had previously been released. "Yellow Submarine" had already appeared on Revolver in August 1966 and as a hit single at about the same time!

 "All You Need Is Love" had been a hit single in 1967 and had also appeared in the United States edition of Magical Mystery Tour later that year!!!.

The second side features arrangements (recorded specifically for the album) of George Martin's orchestral score!!!

The Labels

Feature the DARK APPLE LABELS (only 1st press! Importantly only the earliest and 1st editions feature   ''SOLD IN THE UK.......'' featured across the labels (only 1st UK pressings) ''Mfd in the UK'' featured (only UK press)  Amaizingly, I can barely se two or three spider marks on each side around the spindle hole!, (These can even be counted) (This looks in my opinion like it has definately not been overplayed played, in fact barely ever played at all, for an amaizing 43 year old Beatles album!) little if (no) spindleware the hole is perfectly round!

The Vinyl

The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable! This is the original 1st issue, thick and chunky type of vinyl only found like this on the earliest pressings! On initial inspection this looks absolutely awesome! This actually gleems! Still retains its natural glossy sheen from new! There are (no) needle scratches or audio sounding marks at all that I can see!! Important note! This is the original thick and heavy chunky type of vinyl only found on 1st pressings! These have deeper grooves and are much more robust than later press!!

When looked at under a very strong light there is very (very) few and very light minute surface marks\scuffs\ (mainly sleeve removal marks! (no) deep audio sounding marks at all that i can see at least no scratches that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops!

The Audio Quality

THIS IS UNBELEIVABLE! I have carefully played this track for track four times, on a top system at very loud volume, importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge prior to listing! The audio is graded very, very near mint throughout! It is quite obvious that from the moment that the needle hits the playing surface that this vinyl is virtually unplayed in my opinion. I haven't heard a better original! (no) loud constant clicks or pops certainly (no) skips or jumps, any static or isolated static ticks are minimal and far and fewer between, very minor isolated interfearence to mention is only in the form of isolated static tick or two in quiet places! THE AUDIO IS CRISTAL CLEAR AND VIBRANT!! Most importantly none of the normal horible surface noise can be heard constantly during the audio!,, so common on this pressing! and quite unbeleivable for this earliest and rarest (being mono),  43 year old Beatles album!!! Infact even in between tracks this is lovely and quiet in my opinion!!! I would class myself as highly critical! Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd static/isolated static crackle tick perhaps only  heard in an isolated quiet places (not consistant through out the audio) ! mainly caused by dirt or dust build up over the years of laying dormant in my opinion! Please remember that this is a genuine 43 year old vinyl that would have originally have been played on a 43 year old system! A constant clean is recomended before each play! ,, this would drastically reduce this and would greatly improve the audio quality!

 I must emphise! THE AUDIO PLAYS THROUGH  CRISTAL CLEAR AND VIBRANT WITH ABSOLUTELY (NO) SIGNS OF DISTORTION OR THAT THIS HAS BEEN OVERPLAYED AT ALL! Audio is graded at least excellent plus to very, very near mint on my systems! Almost as good as it gets on vinyl in my personal opinion!

The record sleeve

This is the original Apple, Black one sided die cut hole record sleeve! issued with this pressing! (rarely seen complete and in this condition) (no) edge splits ,, becoming very fragile with age only light creasing. This has always been stored seperately from the vinyl for protection! 

The Cover

This is the original LAMINATED FRONT  printed 'in Great Britain' flip back cover! features The catalogue number ''PMC 7070'' IS FEATURED (ONLY MONO 1ST PRESS) This is one of those sleeves that is often found in a terrible state, often badly creased due to the fact that the card used in making it was so very thin and in this addition caused severe ringware on most copies seen!

  Important note! I have compared these mono covers to the 1st issue stereo covers apart from the obvious catalogue number differences there are importaqnt features unique to the earliest mono originals! These are slightly creamy in appearence on the front compared to the stereo covers, in fact at first I thought that this was yellowing with age but I have other mono originals to compare and these are the same. Also there is no 'Garrod & Lofthouse' text printed on the flip backs as on the later stereo editions, but I do also have another mono copy that does feature Garrod & Lofthouse printed on the bottom flipback?    Two red lines are featured at the rear (only 1st pressing covers, later have black lines) This is in superbe shape, super rich in colour and super glossy laminate!! With just bare minimal ringware indeed only really noticable if looked for angled to the light! Absolutely (no) real main creasings to the laminate to talk at the front laminate, no heavy creases or bends! The front is flat and clean, with very minor corner bumping indeed, barely noticable unless looked for.  There is no flacking of the laminate.   Light, minor\small laminate lines only on the front and at the spine end mainly, but nothing too bad. Almost impossible to find like this!(see photo) The rear is exceptionaly clean, amaizingly without staining  with age. The original price sticker has been left at the rear 37 shillings and 5 old pennies! This could easily be removed if need be.  All text is fully legable and clear! This is strong and straight , without any splits or tares at all!!  a superbe example ORIGINAL! Must be at least excellent  to excellent plus in my opinion!

I always urge others to do their own personal research on any items that they are interested in purchasing, before, they commit to bidding!) I have Highlighted all aspects as clearly as possible!! I have taken time to play this vinyl track for track to give a clear and accurate description of the audio quality. (please look at my completed listings of albums that I have sold of this calaber (more than 800 items) and you will see that I normally get it right) I have also provided as many photos as I can and supersized so that all aspects can be seen clearly in strong light!!!!!Please note! These photos are the actual item for sale and not copies of other items!!!!!!!
