Title:       "Strawberry Fields Forever" b/w " Penny Lane"

Record Number: Odeon 7XCE  18416-2 / 7XCE 18415-1

Issue:  UK - February 17th, 1967

  

Condition:   Record:  Up for auction is a very interesting Beatles 45.  I have not been able to determine exactly what this 45 is but all the run off grooves indicate it is a 1st pressing of the Beatles hit single Strawberry Fields Forever b/w Penny Lane.  This is a one off demo pressing or test pressing bearing an Odeon label with an indicated speed of 33 1/3 rpm when it actually plays at 45 rpm.  There is no printing on the label but someone has handwritten "Beatles Strawberry Fields" on one side and "Not For Sale" on the Penny Lane side of the 45.  Other than that the labels are in excellent condition.

Matrix numbers, stamper codes and tax codes as follows:

A Side: 7XCE 18416-2, GRG, KT

B Side: 7XCE 18415-1, UAT, KT

Interesting item for sure.

The record has definitely been played and there are light surface marks on both sides of the vinyl.  It plays through with no skips or pops - some light background noise.
