BEATLES "SOMETHING NEW" COMPACT 33 E.P
Original 1964 compact 33 E.P
This is an ultra rare "Jukebox Compact 33" of THE BEATLES: SOMETHING NEW. This is the sleeve for the sleeve and the vinyl, which is unique to find both together.
The compact 33 was an experimental and short-lived disc format of the early 1960s. The disc measured seven inches in diameter has a small center hole, and plays at 33-1/3 RPM. The format was used primarily for mono and stereo singles.
Capitol (and other companies) manufactured compact 33 records for special jukeboxes but gave up when the 45 single took over the market.
Capitol produced three Beatles Compact 33s starting with Meet The Beatles, then The Beatles' Second Album and Something New being the final two. All three were manufactured by Capitol's Scranton factory. Sleeves for the three Beatles jukebox records were a smaller version of the 12-inch sleeve except the back was blank. The record came complete with a song list to display inside the jukebox. Each disc contained six songs — those Capitol probably considered the album's best.
As these records were intended for jukebox play, neither the sleeves or the records are seldom found.
This is the ORIGINAL "Something New" COMPACT 33 issued in october 1964 and is complete with its ORIGINAL SLEEVE!!
The labels to both sides of this highly sought after E.P are in superb, when viewed closely under a bright light there are no unwanted marks present. All the lettering is clear and crisp with no rubbing.
The glossy vinyl is also superb with just very light but extremley minimal surface marks..non are severe. the vinyl lies perfectly flat with no warping
The rare sleeve is in excellent condition given its age. It has some corner and edge wear and has at sometime had a sympathetic repair to bottom edge...(see pictures) . The plain white rear does show some handling marks and some wear but im sure anyone could forgive this true rarity some imperfections!!!!.... The sleeve is intact and the all important front picture is still vivid.
Although these COMPACT 33'S do surface for sale it is becoming somewhat unique to find one complete with its original sleeve and this is a rare chance to aquire the complete item.
