Description
Beatles 3rd State Rare Stereo Pro Peeled Butcher Cover w/Trunk Slick/Record
Please read entire description/auction terms prior to bidding on this item. Thank You
Genuine and Authentic 1966 Peeled Stereo Butcher Cover Package complete with the Removed Trunk Slick, Record and Inner Sleeve. Very reasonable opening bid price for a Stereo peel of this quality. Many of our genuine Butcher Covers are purchased by dealers and then resold at higher prices. While the Butcher Cover has been described in collecting circles as "the most common rare record", let's face it, 80 to 90% have been destroyed by horrible to mediocre peels. Regardless, the stereo jackets were produced in a much smaller percentage than mono jackets so just that many less decent stereo peels exist these days.
This one came from our vault. These Stereo Butcher Cover are becoming harder to find with decent seams and spine. Especially compared to what is usually and currently offered in this price range for a much rarer Stereo peel. Please see photos of the 2nd state (unpeeled) jacket prior to peel and please see our feedback for customer satisfaction specifically relating to genuine Butcher Covers.
A mono (not stereo) top quality peel just sold recently for over $7000 !
Stereo Butcher Covers in particular have steadily risen in value over the last few years and are fetching crazy numbers in high profile catalog auctions. These stereo pressings, according to Capitol Records production statistics, are far more rare (at least 5 times more according to factory production records) than their mono counterparts and rarely show up peeled in displayable condition. Look around at what is available. There are very few stereo peels of notable quality. Unfortunately, too many covers continue to be severely damaged by amateur peels and it pays to invest wisely and carefully consider the quality of the peel when investing in a 3rd state (peeled) cover. Don't just take our word for it, look around. Please view all photos prior to bidding.
This item will be safely and securely double boxed and shipped to you via Priority Mail. This is a great opportunity to purchase a jacket that you will be proud to display. Please read complete description prior to bidding.
Condition:
Butcher Cover is awesome and something that any fan would treasure. Compare this to what is offered on the web in a similar price range and we're sure you'll agree that this is in the top 3% far as Stereo peels are concerned. Glue residue/Capitol factory brush lines from application of that adhesive (at the original Capitol pressing plant) used to adhere the trunk cover is somewhat visible but isn't too bad on this one but please take your time and look at the photos before making your mind up. Some mild tanning on the borders. Please see photos and text below for further more specific details about the actual physical condition of the jacket .
Seams:
Top seam is mostly complete with a little checking and a slight crack near the last inch of that seam and paper chip loss to the very end near the mouth edge. There is a wear spot and touched up abrasion to the very top end of the purple "Stereo" banner. May have been when a previous owner peeked under the trunk slick. (please see closeup photo) Bottom seam appears also mostly intact with a slight crack to the seam near the very last inch. These slight cracks appear to be neatly adhered. Please see photos. Given the age/repair/frailty of the seams, a vinyl record/inner sleeve should never be attempted to be placed in the album jacket ! The record in these valuable old albums should always be stored separately. Even with a jacket with the best seams, there is a danger of this old paper cracking. (See seam Photos)
Spine:
Spine is complete and all writing is legible with just a few tiny chips of missing paper (one on the top end and one at the bottom tip) and some light checking in a few spots. (See Spine Photo)
Back Of Jacket:
The back of the jacket is clean with no writing, serious stains or tears and only shows light wear/tanning. (See Back of Jacket photo)
Trunk Slick:
Removed Trunk Slick is included with some wrinkling and minor repair. (See Trunk Slick photo)
Record/Inner Sleeve:
A Stereo Record is included which plays through without any major problems but does exhibit some minor sleeve scuffs and scratches. 1966 Goldenrod Capitol Records Inner Sleeve is also included.
Look around for prices and quality on Stereo peels out there. Many are noticeable amateur efforts with pronounced severe damage from unprofessional peeling. This example presents better than 95% of all Stereo peels that you see out there in this price range. This is an awesome piece of Rock and Roll history.
Terms Of Auction/Shipping:
Due to the recent inflation and subsequent increases in actual USPS shipping costs, Buyer pays $39.00 for properly packed double boxed priority shipping with tracking. Shipping of such a high value, large package with significant weigh is costly and labor intensive and will likely be more that what is being charged here. Regardless, the cost to you will be capped at $39.00. No International Shipping on this item. Bidders with low feedback or new accounts must contact us prior to bidding on this item. Seller reserves the right to cancel bids at any time. Due to the exceptional cost and labor involved in shipping this item, this is being sold "AS IS" and there are No Returns on this purchase. Please review all photos and descriptions and please contact with questions prior to bidding. This item has been through a laborious process from the 2nd state to what you see here, and as such, the grading is unique on this item. Capitol Factory glue lines and glue residue is a fact of life, especially on these stereo jackets and some will remain to preserve the printing integrity of the original Butcher Slick. This cannot be graded like a comic book or a baseball card due to the fact that this jacket has twice been altered from its original state, once by the paste over process at the Capitol Factory and likewise by the peeling process. Any minor imperfections are from either process. The photos speak for themselves and we do our best to accurately grade these historic artifacts.
Please note: Beatles T-shirt seen in background is NOT included in auction.
Thank You and Happy Bidding !
