The vinyl is in Very Good - condition. It shows clear signs of being played and enjoyed but also that it was generally taken care of. There is some spindle wear and the record surfaces have sleeve removal marks and some scuffs / scratches on each side but they're generally superficial, it lies flat and plays nicely without jumping but there is some surface noise that's more noticeable in the quieter segments and in the spaces between tracks. Luckily there's little distortion on the end tracks of each side which could often be gouged out by a heavy tracking Dansette back in it's day, the tracks sound loud and confident on my system with plenty of high-end to spare. This cutting is rather loud and energetic so it does minimize the playback noise some. It's still perfectly listenable and luckily there's very little obnoxious pops during the music, just some slight rotational ticks at the end of "Baby It's You" and also a couple in "Do You Want To Know A Secret".
Overall while it's not in mint condition, it's still a nice, playable copy. I'd recommend summing your cartridge to mono for playback as it reduces the noise and it makes this record sound even more exciting!
Please note, my photos cannot perfectly capture the condition of the record's surfaces but they are just to give a general idea. It does show it's wear but it's not too bad.
Comes with an original mono Ernest J. Day Cover that was leftover stock from the very first Black & Gold pressings with the "Angus McBean" text in it's original position over to the edge and it's in a Very Good condition. These early paper flap flipback covers are notoriously weak but this one is still holding together, there's some signs of wear and some small tears / lifting on the bottom and top of the flipbacks. Luckily they don't go all the way up and it doesn't affect the strength of this cover. The openings are in good shape and the spine is nice and readable, it just has a small split going through one part. There's also some small damage to the corners and some general laminate wear on the front panel. Overall it's not perfect but it's still nice. The front panel image looks great!
The record comes with a rice paper lined Emitex inner sleeve and it's in nice condition Only some slight signs of wear This could make for a nice cover upgrade for anyone with an original Black/Gold pressing.
