BEATLES – Let It Be 1970 1st Non – Box UK issue

This is the 1st non-box issue of Let It Be, with a green Apple logo on the back cover.  The UK LIB box set was the 1st issue, with a unique red Apple logo on the back of the cover.  The box set matrix numbers are 2U & -2U, and there was never any –1U used.  This pressing, with 3U & 3U matrix numbers, was pressed and released shortly after the box set.  For only the very first of these 1st non box set pressings the cover was unique with ultra-glossy lamination and a tapered cover.

The label has the dark green color apple on side 1.  Apple Cat. No. PCS 7096.  Matrix: YEX 773-3U & YEX 774-3U. The stamper codes are difficult to read, and appears to be: 4 (with something on top of it)/GLL & 3 (with something on top of it)/GOO.

The cover is in excellent (-) condition.  The unique cover of this early 1st non box set pressing is the same tapered cover design that is found only in the box set.  It is very distinct; the cover slightly slopes away from the center area towards the four corners.  The spine is extremely thin, almost pointed in shape.  There is no edge wear, no spine wear and no corner wear.  The cover retains its strong glossy lamination, with only the faintest hint of glazing and ring impression.  The front cover has some light creases along the spine area and one moderate crease on bottom spine area.  There is no glazing or creases in the center area with the pictures of the Beatles.  The back cover is in excellent condition, with only a few of the most minor and small creases and just a hint of glazing and ring impression

The labels are in mint (-) condition, there are no spindle marks and the spindle hole is perfect.   The original “Patents” inner sleeve is in excellent condition

The vinyl is in excellent (+) condition.  There are only a very few of faintest paper scuffs discernible under strong and direct sunlight.  The vinyl and labels have a like-new appearance. 

This copy of LIB plays very well, properly rated overall at very good (+), bordering on excellent (-).  There are no skips or nasty pops.  There is light to at times light (+) crackling on side 1. The song “Let It Be” plays excellent, with only very light faint crackling.  Side two plays excellent, with only light crackling throughout.  “Get Back” plays great.  Do not confuse my severe ratings with a poor playing record; this is a fine playing copy.

This LP was sourced in the UK by a reputable and well-established UK dealer when I acquired my UK collection a number of years ago. It has been played only once since I purchased it to verify condition and just recently once again to prepare this listing.  I am now selling off my prized collection of UK albums.  Check my other current listings, and I will be listing more, so keep an eye out.

The LPs will be shipped using specialty LP packaging materials from Cameron Packaging.  LPs will be packaged using either single or double-boxes, cardboard spacers, and bubble wrapping.  The vinyl will be in a non-original protective inner sleeve and the original inner sleeve will be securely packed.  The vinyl will not be shipped inside the cover.
