THE BEATLES
"how do you do it"
ACETATE
We have here a very interesting item!
"How do you do it" was written by Mitch Murray and was intended to be the BEATLES first single. Rumour has it that they played it a rather lacklustre fashion to try and persuade George Martin that they would rather debut with their own composition "Please Please Me". It worked and "How Do You Do it" was, instead released by Gerry and the Pacemakers.
It remained unreleased by The Beatles until it appeared on the "Anthology 1" LP.
Well, this is that actual track on a seven inch acetate but, when it dates from, we do not know! The construction of the acetate with it's aluminium core and purpleish wax (seen on the pictures) and having the two holes under the label to locate it on the cutting platter would suggest late 1960s but we cannot be sure. It certainly would not be later than the mid 1970s.
Since it does not have an official 'emidisc' label or any other indication of a manufacturer, I would think it was made for a private client, maybe a Beatles fan.
I have played it and it seems to be the same as the version on 'Anthology'. Unfortunately, the label has a water stain on it but it still is an interesting Beatles record and will be of great interest to those collecting the more unusual items from The Beatles.

As with other rare items I am listing I would like to tell you a little about me to give you confidence in bidding and to assure you that these are absolutely genuine items. I am the managing director of the world famous BEANOS RECORDS and we have had our shops in South London for over 30 years. I write about rare records, appear on TV and Radio and constantly in the National Press. It is BEANOS LIMITED that are selling this most desirable item but I want to be your contact for any queries and, also, to take away the faceless negotiation that an important international auction can sometimes have. I can tell you everything you need to know about this auction lot if you email me with any questions and, you are welcome to visit our shop and view the actual item (by prior appointment) with myself. I have to point out that most of the goods I offer on eBay are also on sale in my shop and I might have to end an auction early if I have another buyer.
