BAKERLOO
bakerloo
HARVEST SHVL 762 (UK) 1969
UK 1st press with no 'EMI' boxed logos
(there were no second pressings anyway - it's RARE)
produced by Gus Dudgeon of Tuesday Productions for Tony Hall Enterprises
engineered by Barry Sheffield, recorded at Trident Studios
cover printed and made by Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd. London
date code 6911 TPS (November 1969)
sleeve design by Mustard Creasey & Associates with Intergraphic Arts
Bakerloo were Big Bear Artists managed by Jim Simpson
photographs by Jim Simpson and Alan Johnson
beautiful UK psych / progressive blues album
this one has always been hard to find
even way back then
ONE OF THE MOST INTERESTING OF THE BLUES TO PROG CROSSOVER RECORDS
WITH STUNNING ADDITIONAL ELEMENTS OF PSYCH, JAZZ AND CLASSICAL
an extremely nice, unbelievably near 100% perfect sleeve makes this copy essential
RECORD
the record plays loud and clear with only minor background noise
presence is amazingly immediate and 'thumpy' with startlingly clear drums and bass
clean guitar, vocals and other lead instruments with no distortion
fantastic bottom end, penetrating highs and clean midrange create gorgeous clarity across the entire audio range
this, of course, is primarily down to engineer Barry Sheffield who also masterminded the fine sound on the first two albums by Black Sabbath
THIS RECORD HAS BEEN PLAYED AND ENJOYED A LOT BUT IS STILL AN ENTIRELY ENJOYABLE 'KEEPER' COPY
THERE ARE NUMEROUS LIGHT SUPERFICIAL SCUFFS AND HAIRLINES
LABELS
the labels have a very (very!) faint name on side one and there is extremely faint colour added around the rim of the side two spindle hole
also to the 'A' and 'R' of the HARVEST lettering
there are two other minor and tiny ink marks (one on each side) just below the 'BA' of BAKERLOO (see photos)
both labels otherwise clean and bright with almost no spindle traces
OBVIOUSLY THE LABELS ARE ORIGINALS, WITH THE MADE IN GT. BRITAIN TEXT TO THE LOWER PERIMETER
AND THE GRAMOPHONE CO. LTD. . . TEXT AT THE TOP
ALSO NO LATER 'EMI' BOXED LOGOS
(THIS ALBUM WAS DELETED SOON AFTER RELEASE AND WAS NEVER ISSUED WITH THOSE LOGOS ANYWAY)
INNER
the original poly-lined Harvest advertising inner sleeve is excellent with minor creasing
the colour is jet-black over creamy white (see photos)
THE INNER SLEEVE HAS NO SPLITS, TEARS WRITING OR OTHER DAMAGE / DEFACEMENT
COVER
the cover is beyond belief
almost totally mint and I can only imagine it must have always been stored or housed separately from the well-enjoyed and well-played record
it smells absolutely brand new as if fresh from the factory and the "Red Balloon" record shop (insert favourite nostalgic reference)
truly incredible with near perfect spine, seams, opening edges, corners
the interior layout is snow-white and absolutely spendid
there are some tiny 'jags' in the lamination but this is 'factory' and would have been there from new
the laminate is otherwise gloriously glossy and shines like glass (see photos)
genuinely stunning - it commands attention I can assure you!
THIS AMAZING COVER IS SURELY THE BEST YOU COULD EVER FIND
