Description
- Mercury Records OL3-116, this is an original US mono edition of Bach: Complete Suites For Unaccompanied Cello as performed by Janos Starker. All three LPs feature matrix numbers that end in "RFR-1" etched in the trail off. Box is in about VG/VG+ condition, showing some handling, rubbing, and minor ring wear; lower corners of the top of the box show splits, and there is a drill hole at top left corner. The paper at the spine has split as well, allowing the top to be removed, but there are no crushed corners, etc. Both LPs 2 & 3 are a shiny and clean Excellent, showing some minor sleeve lines. Playback on both is solid throughout - some occasional crackle and such - while labels are crisp with no spindle wear. LP 1 (sides 1 & 2) is about VG+, showing a slight storage warp. Playback is still sound, although there are some instances of crackle and the occasional pop; there are no skips or repeats. The biggest flaw is that at the beginning of side 2, the record does not track correctly - you have to place the needle toward the inside of the dead wax (just before the music begins) for it to properly track ; otherwise, it catches on the outer edge and repeats. (Again, this all before the music starts.) Custom liner note booklet is also included in VG+ condition, showing some minor handling and the top left corner drill hole.
