Comprising José Roberto Bertrami on piano and synthesizers, Ivan "Mamão" Conti on drums, and Alex Malheiros on bass, Azymuth was at the forefront of sonic experimentation. Alongside artists like Milton Nascimento, Marcos Valle, Elis Regina, Clara Nunes, and Tim Maia, they produced numerous recordings.

The LP "Azimüth" marks the band's debut with their original repertoire. With an innovative sound, the group bridged Brazilian rhythms, particularly samba, with jazz, funk, and rock. Azymuth was the first Brazilian group to perform at the Montreux Festival and has been sampled by various international artists, including Will I Am and Gramatik. This reissue does not include the isolated instrumental tracks available on streaming platforms.
