Harry Chapin was one of the most gifted singer/songwriters of the 1970s, enjoying well-deserved success with hits such as Cat's in the Cradle and W.O.L.D.. But he was no mere folkie. His gigs were a real rockin' affair, his fans returning for more time after time. And then, suddenly, he was gone - taken from us in a car accident - leaving us with his music and our memories.
This terrific softback book was kindly signed by Harry Chapin in my presence at Sheffield City Hall after one of his legendary concerts in the late seventies. It contains 54 of his marvellous poems and song lyrics - funny, touching and sad. Many are illustrated by one of Rob White's surreal and fantastic pictures (White drew the cover of his album Short Stories, containing W.O.L.D.).
It is a rare first edition (see photo) and bears Harry's autograph on the front endpaper. The binding is tight and the pages are clean and bright. There is some light foxing around the spine but is otherwise in great condition.
