Description

Extremely Rare Audio Fidelity Record STEREODISC AFLP  1872 Demonstration Record
The first stereo LP was issued by Audio Fidelity in November 1957. It was mastered by Western Electric's Westrex Corporation which had developed the 45/45 stereo record cutting system which was ultimately chosen as the cutting standard. Fidelity printed 500 copies of the LP and my father received one for testing and evaluation. At the time he was vice president of Altec Lansing Corporation and retired in 1970. There is a date of 11-13-57 scratched on the record surface.  The gold sticker on the front states  "compatible stereophonic demonstration record for test and laboratory  purposes". The record content of side one is "Marching Alone With The Duke of Disneyland"  (AFLP 1851). Side two is "Railroad Sounds Steam and Diesel, Sound of a Vanishing Era" (AFLP 1843)
