(HMV ASD 270 UK Stereo LP 1959)

This is a 1959 UK Stereo 1st pressing LP in great overall condition! It has a heavyweight fully laminated flipback sleeve which has a gold circular "EMI Stereophonic" sticker on the front. There is a flipback at the top & bottom edges of the rear sleeve. These have a rounded die-cut centre area. The spine has a factory "pinched" top & bottom area. It comes with its original polythene-lined generic "Emitex" company paper inner sleeve.

The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has white & gold "HMV" labels. The labels are grooved also. The record has 1st press 2YEA 52-4 and 2YEA 53-2 matrix numbers. These are machine stamped in the dead wax. The mother stampers are "G 1" and "G 1" respectively.

This is a genuine 1959 UK Stereo 1st pressing with the earliest matrix numbers and mother stampers. The HMV labels are grooved. It has a fully laminated sleeve too. All these indicate a UK stereo 1st pressing from 1959. These are quite rare. I have some other rare UK original 1950's & 1960's Classical Stereo LP's for sale too. So please see my other listings. Sleeve: There is a tiny 0.5 cm bit of more moderate rubbing wear, & 0.5 cm seam split, at the bottom corner tip at the sleeve opening. This is not really that noticeable. There is mild or very mild rubbing wear to the other three corner tips. There is some light, mild or very mild hairline rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges. This hardly really notices under a strong light.

There is some light, mild or very mild laminate lifting at the front spine area. This is mainly on the front sleeve. There is a little bit on the rear sleeve too. There are about 3 hairline creases at the spine area. The crease mark is visible on the spine face. There is also some very minor staining, & minor laminate peeling or laminate cracking, at the small hairline crease narks too.

Otherwise, the spine is in very nice overall condition. The spine text is completely legible. There is a tiny pin-head sized stain on the rear sleeve - near the top edge. There is some light, mild or more moderate ringwear on some areas. This is mainly on the front sleeve. Overall, the sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. These late 1950's UK HMV sleeves are extremely prone to wear. They are quite thin and flimsy. This sleeve is a very clean and tidy copy.


Vinyl: There are some light, mild, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs which can hardly be seen under a strong light. These are mainly on Side 2. There is an extremely light 2.5 cm hairline surface sleeve rub mark at the end of Side 2. This is barely visible under a strong light. There are two 3 cm hairline surface sleeve rub marks, right near each other, on Side 2 too. Again, these are barely visible under a strong light. The original inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. They are mainly on the dead wax areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. Side 1 is in Very Near Excellent condition. Side 2 is in Very Good++ condition. Overall, the vinyl is in NEAR EXCELLENT condition. The Labels are in Excellent+ condition and show minimal spindle wear.

The original polythene-lined company paper inner sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is some very light, very mild or very minor ringwear, fading & creasing. There is a more moderate area of rubbing wear to the top third of one side of the inner sleeve. There are no seam splits.

I have play tested this LP in its entirety & it plays Near Excellent to Excellent overall, & Excellent+ in some places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in some quieter places. There are about 3 mild, or very mild, clicks on Side 2. I can't see anything to cause this, so essentially it appears to be microscopic deep down dirt in the grooves. Overall, a very decent audio copy!

Please note that there are now VAT import charges from the UK into all EU countries. Anything under 150 Euros will need an IOSS number. VAT is paid at point of sale. For any items over 150 Euros in value. There will be a customs charge too. These vary, I believe, from country to country. Please check your relevant postal service online for details. Please note that these charges are beyond my control and are the law for outside parcels going into the EU.

All records will be sent in high quality vinyl box/ mailers with at least two card stiffeners either side of the LP or 7" Single. I use a cruciform box for larger orders (3-6 LPs). All parcels will be marked "Fragile" and dispatch time will generally be between 1-3 days after payment.

I will also remove the vinyl from the sleeve & place them in a re-sealable polythene sleeve. In order to prevent seam splits. Depending on the inner sleeve; I often remove the vinyl from the inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, plain inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your LP(s).

I consider my postage & packaging costs to be very transparent & very fair. Packaging costs will generally be between £0.80 to £1.50. I am not adding any further costs for handling, etc...
