Description
Here we have a rare MONO copy of Archie Shepp- Four For Trane on the Impulse label. The album was originally released in 1965 - this is the 1966 first repress. VAN GELDER is stamped in the deadwax.
The record has been Degritter cleaned and the vinyl has come up spotless and shiny but with a non-feelable visible scuff mark on Side 1 Track 1 - see photo 5. This looks uglier than it actually is - it played through without jumping or sticking and with the typically vibrant, in the room sound that these Impulse monos always have. We have graded VG visually but it plays more VG+/EX.
Side 2 has no visible marks worth mentioning other than a faint discolouration patch.
The labels and spindle holes are clean and the vinyl sits flat on the turntable.
The laminate gatefold sleeve is clean and sturdy with no laminate lift but does have tape applied to the edges to protect the edges - see photos. No writing or splits, slight wear to corners but the spine is still very much intact and readable.
Overall this is a lovely copy for an Impulse collector, fully cleaned and tested, ready to pop straight onto your turntable.
