Antique 17-Page VICTOR 'His Masters Voice' Record Binder, With 17 Shellac 78 RPM 12" Records.

This antique Victor "His Master's Voice" cloth-covered burgundy record binder seems a little odd with its 17 pages, and it is. It's designed to hold 17 large-size 12" shellac '78' gramophone records. Attached to the spine of this burgundy album is a brass finger loop, used to slide it out when situated vertically in an armoire or shelf. The famous HMV "His Masters Voice" gold gilt logo with Nipper the dog and gramophone is embossed on the front cover.

Included are 17 antique large-format 12" shellac records (many are quite rare). A couple of the records are antique single-sided shellacs with blank backs. Records span from the early 1900s to the 1920s, and are of the "78" variety and thus typically hold just one single song per side.

Just $73 USD for all 17 twelve-inch discs (that's just $4 each) plus $5 for the album holder.

These specialized cloth-covered binders were stamped with a different letter on the spine. This was done so that record collectors could write the matching letter onto each record that belonged to that particular binder (this system worked well when the owner possessed multiple binders). A number could also be added (say I-8) and so it would be clear that disc belonged to binder "I" and to page "8" for example. (An explanation is printed on the index page on the inside cover of the binder).

Measures 13¾" x 12½" x 3" thick. Records are 12" in diameter. This record holder is colossal and weighs more than 15 pounds.
CONDITION (Book): Album itself is in relatively good condition despite being 100+ years old. Fading to pages, minor wear to corners and spine. Page #14 has a small one inch tear (see photo #8). Age-related wear to covers, corners and spine. The index page inside the front cover is still blank. Scuffs to the covers and edges of binder.

CONDITION (Records): Records are generally in good condition (with NO chips or cracks) but it should be assumed that all have some scratches.
