Description
Anne Briggs - Anne Briggs (UK Topic 12T207 - 1971 - Ex- / Ex- ) Beautiful condition copy of the scarce classic first album by this British folk legend. Beautiful clear voice and mostly unaccompanied singing except for a couple of tracks with guitar and bozouki. Johnny Moynihan from Sweeny's Men also guests on one track. Includes her interpretation of Blackwater Side (which influenced Bert Jansch's arrangement) and Go Your Way, written in collaboration with Bert .
Songs are : Blackwater Side / The Snow It Melts The Soonest / Willie O'Winsbury / Go Your Way / Thorneymoor Woods / The Cookoo / Reynardine / Young Tambling / Living By The Water / Mae Bonnie Lad.
Produced by the great A.L.Lloyd who also contributed the sleevenotes. Laminated front cover is clean and shiny with only a couple of light creases on the spine. Non-laminated back cover has a couple of areas of light rubbing middle left and top left (see image). Lovely original blue and silver Topic labels are clean with just a couple of very small, light spindle marks each side. Vinyl is clean and shiny with no scratches or marks - plays perfectly with no crackle or distortion - Essential for a record this quiet. A really lovely copy of a very scarce album !.
The record will be sent in a plastic sleeve with the disc removed to avoid the cover splitting during shipping. It will be packed in a strong cardboard mailer with extra cardboard either side.
