This is the rarest Andy Warhol cover art. It is for the record album cover of Vladimir Horowitz playing Piano Music of Mendelssohn and Liszt. There are said to be fewer than seven copies known to exist of this cover that was originally released in 1952 and almost immediately thereafter withdrawn and replaced with a different cover. It is extremely rare. I am posting below the link to Richard Forrest's Warhol Cover site. Forrest curated the Warhol cover show in 2008 and is the internationally recognized expert on the subject. Forrest maintains that he has only seen or knows of the three or four examples of this cover that have surfaced on Ebay. One sold before that on 8/14 for $1,325.00 that was rated NM to NM-, and it didn't even come close to the one I am offering in freshness and overall condition. This cover is as close to perfection as it gets. The colors are fresh and pure and undiminished and it cries out for framing. Even though it is about 60 years old, it looks like it just came out of the factory. There are no splits on the spines, the corners are perfectly square with no rounding whatsoever. It has: no split seams no ring wear no cut-out corners no saw marks or indents no wrinkles or creases no writing no stamps no tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams no peel-off marks no stains no mold or mildew spots no stickers or labels no water damage no razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks or cuts no warping no wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover no glue traces or wax residue no bar codes no RIAA stamps or stickers no shelf-ware In short, this is without a doubt the finest extant copy of this cover. You will never seen another one at this level in your lifetime. This is it. The original album cover, without repairs, completely unaltered from its original state. Contained within the cover is the original RCA MONO record. It has been professionally cleaned and the vinyl is fully lustrous and glossy.
