Description
Finally it is time for me to get rid of what is left of my uber collection of Slade vinyl, memorabilia and ephemera collected over a 40 year period! Those of you who know me will be aware of the 'collection' and also aware that I have been threatening to sell it for some considerable time.
First up is the second most rarest of Slade vinyls, the rarest commercially available pressing for sure.
This is an exceptionally good copy of 'Beginnings', the band's first venture into recorded long playing records.
Fontana STL 5492 catalogue number : Laminated sleeve: Proper black/silver lable colours to distinguish this pressing from the Italian pressed bootlegs of the late 70's.
Condition Sleeve
The record has been stored properly for many years in an environment kind to vinyl. The sleeve has some minor wearing at the corners, a few barely noticeable creases in the laminate and is in overall excellent condition for an item of this age.
Condition Vinyl
This record has been played maybe 3 times in the last 25 years, the last time was an hour or so ago when I gave it a last play to establish the audio quality of the vinyl. A visual inspection shows minor scuffing, and I mean minor here and there which does not detract from the overall sound quality. Side 1 Track one, there is a barely noticeable click (3 times) There are some static noises here and there and between the tracks of course the stylus can be heard picking up minor noises from the groove.
Overall the playability.....(although I doubt you will want to play the LP more than once) is first class.
There are some spindle marks (these can be seen in the attached photo) on the lable.
In my time I have seen only maybe half a dozen of these LP's first hand, and I am proud to say that this is the best copy that I have ever clapped eyes on!
As I am off to pastures new and need to jettison all this stuff, I will over the coming weeks be listing other saleable items and I hope that they will all find their way to the few collectors out there that owning Slade memorabilia still means something to!
