First recorded output by the band Scott Miller started in high school. Possibly the Holy Grail of the Game Theory/Loud Family/Scott Miller family tree (which, just limiting ourselves to ALTERNATE LEARNING, includes Thin White Rope, True West, and The Dream Syndicate, in addition to Miller's later bands) this is a near-pristine copy, purchased in the mid-80s from Rational Records when they still had a few left. Although some songs from ALRN's later LP PAINTED WINDOWS have shown up on the recent reissue of GT's BLAZE OF GLORY CD, I've never seen any of these tracks reproduced anywhere, nor have I ever even seen another copy of this record.  Other than a slight ding at the top left corner, a tiny discoloration on the back, and a ding on the corner of one of the many inserts (it's cut slightly bigger than the size of the cover, so is scrunched in one tiny corner) the ALL ORIGINAL cover art is completely intact, and the vinyl-- played only a couple times-- is similarly close to new condition.  There is much to admire about this odd, precocious artifact from a truly odd, brilliant mind, but mostly the treat is hearing Miller's incipient writing chops and (even as a virtual kid!) eclectic set of influences.  The packaging is certainly unlike virtually anything else at the time and is all included here-- a lyric sheet, several pieces of a suitably abstruse "puzzle," several stickers that appear to be computer-generated (in 1979!), a cover that is asymmetrical: in short, the product of the same mind that would later conceive LOLITA NATION.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!
