Description

This is a Parlophone 78 rpm record # 22.528.A  from the twenties, and made in France. In conducting some research on this 78, the following recent sale was found at popsike.com from 2011:

Translation of the French explaining the record in more detail produced the following info:

 

"... the writer and one of the biggest Russian singers of XX century: Alexander Nikolaïevitch Vertinsky (1889-1957)

 (http: // www.vertinski.com/). Recording on tab Parlophone (22.528) - 79037 (Made in France). It is of two songs: The Negro Violet and Letter to a Lady. This recording dates from 1920s."

"It is a very rare disc recorded by one of the very big artists Russian of this epoch.

Friend of Marlene Dietrich to whom he will devote his song Marlene, he falls loving Paris in 1925 and will become established for 10 years there. Then he leaves for Shanghai in 1935 and crosses it next 8 years. He will join her fatherland Russia in 1943 and fact finally of the tours which make it cross all USSR, until Siberia and in Far East (3,000 concerts). He dies in 1957 in Leningrad. Vertinsky is considered to be one of the biggest singers of 20 century beside Boulat Okoudjava or of Vladimir Vyssotski. In 1998, the French singer Anna Prucnal dedicated him show Anna Prucnal sings Vertinski with which he was drawn a disc."

Using the Goldmine standards, by playing it and by sight, the record is in VG condition. The vinyl is very shiny and no major scratches are visible to the naked eye using strong light.
