PLEASE CONSIDER THAT IN THESE EBAY AUCTIONS I USE A STRICT RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE GRADING SYSTEM THAT CAN'T DISAPPOINT ANYONE BUT THIS DOESN'T MEAN THAT ,FOR EXAMPLE, A VG+ COVER OR A VG+ VINYL IT'S EQUIVALENT TO "BAD CONDITIONS" BUT SIMPLY THAT MY GRADE IT'S STRICT AND PROBABLY EQUIVALENT TO AN EX OF SOMEONE ELSE WITH NOT A SO STRICT GRADE. I HAVE SOLD IN THESE AUCTIONS EX- RECORDS THAT WERE SURELLY M- COPIES BUT I PREFERE TO BE STRICT TO AVOID ANY DISAPPOINTEMENT BECAUSE I TAKE GREAT CARE OF MY REPUTATION.
Record Collector Magazine Grading System MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
graded VG++/EX for a strict Record Collector magazine grading system
label: the Original British pressed B&C label it's EX- because without spindle marks around the hole but with 3 micro creases around the hole. This is an A1U - B2U matrices and this mean that it include the "Guitar Mix" with John Cann guitar more in close up instead of the "Keyboard only Mix" made before the Nick Graham leaving for the Skin Alley. This is a legendary record and I think that a good collector must have both the mixes.
cover: the cover look nice but i grade it a strong VG++ instead of an EX because he does have 2 micro holes for each of the upper corners. He has been probably attached to a wall. The rest it's nice with minor dust easily removable with a minor rubber work .
vinyl: the vinyl does not have visible wear and it's EX he plays perfect .
review: I'm offering here the record that all the collector think to be one of the best progressive masterpieces especialy if you like the Hammong organ in close up. This is the first Atomic Rooster album... Vincent Crane and Carl Palmer leave Arthur Brown and his Crazy World with Nick Graham that plays bass, flute and Sing plus some guitar presence in the organ storm all all over but he leave the group for the Skin Alley and it's replaced by the ex Andromeda leader and lead guitarist John Cann hence the new mix for some tracks that may include his fantastic guitar. This is one of the first examples of hard rock mixed with progressive themes that now seems more easy to do than in the 1970. Atomic Ro-o-oster is an interesting mix of jazz- and blues-influenced rock, with traces of classical here and there. The songs, mostly written by Crane, are dark and foreboding, the lyrics a reflection of Crane's battle with manic depression. "Banstead" is a depiction of Crane's stay in a mental hospital of that name, carried along by a baroque-tinged melody and an anguished vocal courtesy of Graham. "Winter," with it's jazzy flute/interplay, could have easily passed for a Jethro Tull song were it not for the lyrics such as "What is the point of going on?" repeated over and over, as if to say that there was no light at the end of the tunnel for Crane.Musically, the band's sound is based around the interplay between Crane's organ and Palmer's busy-yet-thunderous drumming, which he would exploit to the fullest with ELP. A prime example of this are the instrumentals "Decline and Fall" and "Before Tomorrow." The former features some ascending, spiraling solos by Crane before giving way to a drum solo by Palmer that brings to mind his solo on "Tank" from ELP's debut...don't miss this masterpiece!!!
