Description
This is a fine well cared for and barely played UK stereo copy of Nice 'N' Greasy' by Atomic Rooster on Dawn (DNLS 3049) from 1973. It is easily the band's rarest album, having sold a mere 500 copies. It is also a much sought after album among the cognoscenti on account of the quality of the music. Vincent Crane had matured way beyond the angular simplicity of The Devil's Answer and Tomorrow Night, and this album features some superlative songwriting, complex time changes, terrific guitarwork and of course great keyboards. Just check out the musicianship and quality of songwriting on tracks such as Save Me, Voodoo In You, Ear in the Snow and Satan's Wheel.
This example is in lovely condition.
The fully laminated (front and rear) mirror glossy single sleeve easily grades EX, retaining all its original colour and shine, with all straight edges and a beautifully strong, straight, unfeathered opening edge, indicating little use. The spine too is straight and true (correctly pinched at top and bottom) and the spinal text all perfectly readable. There are just a couple of light creases and no rips, tears, unwanted writing or any other signs of abuse.
The thick slab of original vinyl has also been well cared for. Both sides of the disc show up very few marks indeed, even when examined closely under harsh halogen lighting. The lovely original lilac Dawn labels are unmarked, showing hardly any sign of spindle activity and thus indicating very little use. This record comfortably attains a grade of EX and plays perfectly, with brightness and clarity.
Hopefully you can see from my pictures and description that both disc and sleeve have obviously been treasured over the years. For this reason I have placed what I consider to be a reasonable reserve price on this lovely item as I would prefer it to go to an appreciative collector.
Good luck then if you are bidding (if bidding from outside of the UK please contact me to request postage costs etc). I try to be meticulous with my descriptions - be assured that I do not try to pass off worn out albums as near mint. Swift payment required at end of auction please.
ALSO PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER ITEMS (I am currently listing some lovely '60s and '70s albums for your consideration, including true heavyweight second pressings of S. F. Sorrow by Pretty Things and Piper at the Gates of Dawn by The Pink Floyd, which you may also be interested in).
