In Hearing Of Atomic Rooster was the third full-length studio album from UK hard prog rock band Atomic Rooster. In my opinion this is Atomic Rooster's most consistent sounding LP and an overlooked masterpiece of progressive hard rock. Some have called this a transitional album, but I call it everything Atomic Rooster embodied. The gloom of crunchy Deep Purple/Black Sabbath-like riffs still exist, but there are touches of things to come like funk and jazz, yet...the latter is touched on conservatively and tastefully. The album also features two killer instrumentals to boot in "A Spoonful Of Bromide" and "The Rock". Awesome 70's prog rock!!

The Vinyl Is In Stunning Top Mint Condition - Most Probably The Best You Can Find!!
(A beautiful gleaming vinyl with deep mirror shine, with that 'just pressed' look. Play tested today with awesome sound quality. Supremely sharp and perfectly clear loud sound, hardly any noticeable audible crackle at all throughout the tracks, very quiet and hardly any noticeable background noise in between tracks, quiet on the run ins and run offs, no skips, no jumps, no sticking, no serious loud pops or clicks that are noticeable. Virtually perfect near mint sound quality. This 1971 UK Pegasus first pressing still retains its full gloss and sheen with beautiful unmarked surfaces, it has that 'just pressed' look and judging by the labels and lack of spindle marks it has been looked after and cared for extremely well. A magnificent original UK 1st pressing of this rare LP. I seriously doubt if you can find a significantly better condition original copy than this one!)
Labels: MINT
(Original first pressing Pegasus labels are immaculate and unmarked with just a couple of faint spindle traces and no wear around centre holes, no pen marks or writing on the labels. A pretty perfect set of labels)
Gatefold Sleeve: EX
(The unlaminated thick matt gatefold sleeve 'Printed and Made by the E.J.Day Group, London and Bedford' features striking cover artwork by none other than the great Roger Dean! The gatefold sleeve is in truly excellent condition. On the front there are just a few small creases near the spine and light wear only. The back is also very clean with just very light wear, a very small and very faint circular red rubber stamp near the top corner (hardly noticeable). The wide spine is solid and arrow straight with all text totally legible. The top and bottom seams have barely any minor shelfwear. There is one very, very tiny scuff on the top seam that is almost unnoticeable. Overall a superb example of this 40 years vintage gatefold sleeve and I'm sure one of the best you will ever see. The inside of the gatefold sleeve is very clean and virtually unmarked)

On offer here, from my own collection, is a superb TOP MINT condition original 1971 UK 1st pressing of ATOMIC ROOSTER's 3rd LP titled "IN HEARING OF", issued on the UK original 1st press PEGASUS label.
THE CRAZY WORLD OF ARTHUR BROWN having disintegrated after their sole album and their worldwide hit Fire (I am the god of hellfire) Vincent Crane (responsible for the music on that album) and Carl Palmer founded ATOMIC ROOSTER with Nick Graham on bass and vocals. This line-up soon disintegrated (Palmer abandoning them to join ELP), Crane contacted guitarist John DuCann formerly of psych bands THE ATTACK, FIVE DAY WEEK STRAW PEOPLE and ANDROMEDA and Paul Hammond on drums to make the seminal early Heavy Prog masterpiece "Death Walks Behind You" and then they hired Pete French, the incredible voice to make possibly their finest album "In Hearing Of...". Many people would agree that this was the best line-up of ROOSTER.
"In Hearing Of" is another classic offering from heavy prog pioneers Atomic Rooster and features some of the best in the band's repertoire. It begins with the pounding riff-heavy 'Breakthrough' and it is one of the highlights of the album. 'Break the Ice' is also a great rocker and features well-executed heavy guitar riffs. One of the best instrumentals is featured in the form of 'A Spoonful of Bromide' and it features shimmering Hammond that stabs along with menace complimented by a killer guitar riff. 'Black Snake' is quintessential Atomic Rooster, a live staple for the band and one of their most well known. The ominous vocals build and the music is as dark as the band gets. 'Head in the Sky' is definitely worthy of mention too with a memorable riff and doomy lyrics. Overall, this album is one of the best by Atomic Rooster and indeed is a great example of early 70s prog.
ATOMIC ROOSTER'S "IN HEARING OF" is very highly recommended to everyone looking for Hammond organ-driven rock of the early 70's and to anyone looking for high-energy prog-rock. Atomic Rooster were responsible for some of the all-time best hard-prog rock albums and should figure in any serious prog rock collection (you should hide a copy of "In Hearing Of ...." in your grandma's collection just for kicks). Great stuff indeed!!
This GREAT ORIGINAL UK 1ST PRESS album is a 'MUST HAVE' for British heavy prog rock fans and PEGASUS label collectors alike.
The record is pressed on THICK quality MINT condition vinyl. The Cat.No. is PEG 1 on the ORIGINAL 1st PRESS PEGASUS label (see picture) and is a 1971 UK Stereo 1st Pressing (there were NO Monos!)!!
I very much doubt if you can find a better condition original 1st UK pressing of this seminal early 70's heavy prog rock LP!!
