ATOMIC ROOSTER Atomic Roooster (B&C CAS 1010) RARE 1st UK Pressing `Flute Version` MINT-
Very RARE UK first pressing of Atomic Rooster`s debut album "Atomic Roooster", on B&C Records (February 1970).
What we are dealing with here is the ultra-rare, very first UK pressing of "Atomic Roooster", often referred to as the "flute version". The "flute version", available only for one or two weeks in early February 1970, differs from later pressings, in that bassist/flutist Nick Graham left Atomic Rooster upon release of the album. Moving on to Skin Alley, Graham was immediately replaced by John du Cann.
All unsold early "flute versions" of "Atomic Roooster" were subsequently withdrawn from the UK market, making this a rather rare record indeed.
Consequently, three tracks that heretofore featured Nick Graham front and center, were embellished by John du Cann`s (admittedly stupendous) guitar parts. On the "flute version", we however find the original versions -sans John du Cann`s guitar parts- of "Friday the 13th", "Before Tomorrow" (where the complete flute solo was later removed!), as well as "S.L.Y."
GRADING:
MINT- COVER in allround awesome condition for its age. Please see the photos for details.
- Absolutely minimal record imprint on the front sleeve.
- A few light creases to the spine.
- Fully legible spine with "pinched" endings, as found only on first UK pressings.
EX++ to MINT- RECORD, visually stunning with no visible wear whatsoever!
- Absolutely minimal background crackle between tracks only.
- Light crackle in quiet parts of "Winter", otherwise absolutely faultless audio delivery throughout.
- Ultra-rare "flute version" with near-perfect textured labels and large "B&C" logo; the logo was much smaller on all later editions.
- The matrix stamps in the run-out grooves read "CAS + 1010 + A 2", respectively "CAS + 1010 + B 2".
- This record is certified to be a very first UK pressing of "Atomic Roooster", as available for one or two weeks in early February 1970 only.
