Artist: ART PEPPER
Title: “Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section”
Label: CONTEMPORARY. Yellow label with black text. Monaural pressing on medium thick vinyl with deep groove. First pressing PROMOTIONAL COPY, which are typically the earliest impressions on the highest quality vinyl. Labels and jacket are stamped “Sample Record NOT FOR SALE.” Catalog number is C3532.
Year: 1957
Personnel: Art Pepper – alto sax; Red Garland – piano; Paul Chambers – bass; Philly Joe Jones - drums.
Condition:
DISC: Vinyl is NEAR MINT with 100% of original gloss, as clean as can be found. Has possibly never been on a turntable judging by the appearance of the disc and the labels. Fidelity is superb. A prettier copy does not exist.
JACKET: (revised) Jacket is nice VG+ . Front artwork is clean and bright, with some minor traces of ring wear just beginning to appear. Corners are lightly bumped, and there are traces of wear on the bottom and top seams, but no splits. Spine has a slight bit of cracking near the bottom, very small and almost unnoticeable. No writing or stickers, or stains. Reverse (laminated) has a bit of minor surface wear. It is stamped at the top (light black ink) to indicate it is a “Sample Record” and there are 2 other small stamp marks in the center that say “Catholic Chaplain.”. Overall a very presentable jacket to accompany the superb disc.
