THIS ITEM COMES FROM THE INCREDIBLE, SINGLE-OWNER COLLECTION WE ACQUIRED A WHILE AGO, IN WHICH ITEMS ORIGINALLY BOUGHT BY THE OWNER FROM THE MID-1970s to THE MID-2010s WERE KEPT STILL SEALED IN A NEAR-LABORATORY, TIME-CAPSULE CONDITIONS AND IN PRACTICALLY CLIMATE- AND HUMIDITY- CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT.  CONDITIONS OF SOME OF THESE ITEMS RANGE FROM IMPECCABLE TO TRULY UNBELIEVABLE. SOME OF THESE BEAUTIFUL MUSEUM PIECES LOOKED SO PERFECT THAT WE HAD TO REINSPECT AND RE-EXAMINE THEM A FEW TIMES TO MAKE SURE THEY OUR EYES ARE NOT DECEIVING US.

Founded in 1965, Amigo Records were one of the longest running independent labels in Sweden until the huge Bonnier media group bought them out in the early 00's, only to close down Amigo's business less than ten years later. The very minute Amigo Records were lost to the Bonnier conglomerate, so was the appeal of the original label. It was a bit sad to see that appeal go, once cultivated through an often refreshingly unpredictable catalogue of original releases (including anything and everything from theatrical plays to the world's #1 garage revivalists The Nomads). Amigo also had an impact as a distribution company, making a plethora of jazz, blues and folk releases available domestically.

”Space Trip” is a surprisingly little known Amigo album, released in 1973 by Appendix from Malmö. Revealing traces of both late 60's/early 70's Miles Davis and UK band If, it's most definitely a jazz rock but not quite a fusion effort. It's not a style I particularly fancy myself, but I have to admit that ”Space Trip” has a certain appeal. It is indeed more spacey than your average jazz rock album, the self-descriptive title track in particular, with echoed vocals and wah-wah keyboards. The melancholy of ”Autumn Song” coming through in singer Lars-Håkan Olsson's emotive voice suggests both Moody Blues and King Crimson, whereas ”Tetan” approaches free jazz.

Varied as it is, ”Space Trip” has a cohesive, reflective mood, instilled by a certain sense of tentativeness. Not that Appendix weren't self-confident because they were, but they had refreshingly small amounts of the bravado that would soon make Appendix's style largely outdated by the advent of the cocky full-on fusion bands. ”Space Trip” remains a bit of a curiousity, but a rather attractive one.

Saxophone player and flautist Helge Albin later became leader of Tolvan Big Band acknowledged for their work with Tommy Körberg (Solar Plexus, Made in Sweden et al) and Dave Liebman among others. Also in Tolvan Big Band was drummer Roy Wall. He Walso appears on several albums by other artists over the decades. Bass player Ted Persson and Hans Blom did some session work in the 70's.

(a)          THE VINYL IS ABSOLUTELY, PERFECTLY MINT,  as if never played before. The original luster is totally intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles like brand new. The labels look perfect, simply gorgeous, with absolutely no trace of wear around the spindle hole. The record is TOTAL PERFECTION - ABSOLUTE VISUAL NIRVANA! We are confident that, in this condition, the record we present here is truly once-in-a-lifetime find.

(b)          The record comes in a hi-grade PVC inner sleeve, which has - apparently with success - shielded the record from the harmful impact of elements over many years!

(c)           The record is pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                               THE COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2.

-        Back cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record),  probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.

-        Cover shows some light yellowing on back side, apparently from aging (nothing significant)

-        Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine.

-        The laminated cover has a few air 'bubbles' and wrinkles in lamination (this is a common problem with most laminated 50’s and 60’s covers

-        Cover has three corners slightly worn (nothing significant)

-        The cover has a few tiny scratch marks on the front side  (nothing significant)
