Well.. this is it. Quite possibly the rarest IDM / Electronic / Aphex Twin release EVER. The quick explanation is: This is an UNPLAYED copy, never ever has this thing hit a turntable. It's been removed from the sleeve maybe a total of five times.
The pictures were really really difficult to get, but the runout groove reads: "cat 034 1-1" "cat 034 1-2" "a porky prime cut". Recorded/Pressed in 1995. It comes in a white sleeve and the record label on both sides have absolutely no markings. This record is in MINT/NEW condition.
It was given to me as a gift from a long time idm-er, i unfortunately cannot go into who it came from, but anybody in the idm community knows me and knows that i've been around since the beginning and i'm reputable.
Analogue Bubblebath 5 was supposed to be the fifth EP released by techno and IDM artist Richard D. James, under his commonly known alias, AFX. It was intended to be his fifth release under this alias and the fifth release in the Analogue Bubblebath series.
The album was intended to be released on Rephlex Records. Nine Tracks total. Only a handful of test pressings were made, but the record was soon shelved AND WAS NEVER RELEASED.
Rumor has it that there were only about 50 to 75 of these records pressed and twenty of them went to friends of RDJ. Previous copies of this 12" have sold on and off ebay from $1400 to $2700. it's been listed on some collectors guides and sites as being worth up to $4800, personally i think that's exaggerated, regardless it's worth quite a bit considering how rare it is. :)
