Here is what you're bidding on:  TITLE & ARTIST: "ANTHOLOGY OF AMERICAN FOLK MUSIC Volume One: Ballads" - Edited by Harry Smith on the Folkways Records label (FA 2951) in wonderfully clear original monaural sound, issued in 1952. CONDITION: JACKET - VG+/VG++(2-LP box with light age wear, corner wear, and a wrap-around title band that is separated from the back of the box, but still intact; Includes original complete booklet of 28 pages, filled with illustrations and information about each song included); VINYL - VG++/Near Mint (The clear and bright vinyl has some very light scuffs, but nothing that should affect the sound quality in any way - Visually Graded under custom spotlight).  SPECIAL FEATURES: I cannot imagine a more precious album in the history of folk music in America; this is the first of three such box sets, issued by Folkways in 1952 from Harry Smith's landmark edited collection. This includes the magnificent inside booklet, itself a treasure almost beyond compare, filled with Smith's comments and descriptions, not to mention illustrations and collages. This must be seen to be comprehended. This incredibly rare copy is in superb condition. Even though later reissued on CD, this record contains its own magic, built and appreciated for the past 58 years. Not likely to come around again. It truly is the Holy Grail of American music.
