AMON DUUL II, DANCE OF THE LEMMINGS, UK UA ORIGINAL

	£ 34
	$		45

Here for auction is an exceptional MINT- example of the iconic double album by AMON DUUL II titled “DANCE OF THE LEMMINGS”, Catalogue Number UAD 60003/4. This is an ORIGINAL 1971 UK STEREO 1st PRESSING on the UNITED ARTISTS RECORDS LABEL, with the 1st issue fully-laminated E. J. DAY GATEFOLD SLEEVE. Almost impossible to find in the genuine MINT- condition offered here!

The fully-laminated gatefold sleeve, printed and made by the E. J. Day Group, London and Bedford, is in MINT- condition (strictly graded) with barely any signs of wear at all. The front and back covers and opening gatefold spread are completely unmarked. With the exception of two laminate creases from the spine, and a few tiny laminate hairlines near the edges, the sleeve is virtually ‘as new’. There is no edge or corner wear whatsoever. Overall, this is a truly exceptional near perfect sleeve which will be just about impossible to improve upon.

The top quality United Artists records retain a deep mirror-like shine and sit flat and true on the turntable. They are solidly pressed with tapered rim edges.

The Matrix Numbers and stampers are:

Side A – UAD 60003 A-1U   1    0

Side B – UAG 60003 B-1U   1    R

Side C – UAG 60004 A-2U   1    P

Side D – UAG 60004 B-1U   1    R

Visually both records are in MINT- condition with just a few very light wispy sleeve removal type surface marks evident under bright light (not obvious hairlines). These are of course purely superficial and do not cause any audio problems whatsoever. The cream UA labels are unmarked apart from a few short spindle traces near the centres. There is barely any wear around the spindle holes. I am confident that the records have not been played many times.

PLAYGRADE ASSESSMENT:

These are superb UA pressings which play with outstanding sound quality. Playback is particularly detailed and vibrant, and the audio sounds sensational played at loud volume. Both records play perfectly. All frequencies are crystal clear and there is no discernable deterioration in sound quality. There are no pops or loud clicks and barely any unwanted noise at all (just occasional very light surface sound which is never intrusive and only mentioned for complete accuracy). You simply will not find a significantly better playing copy of Duul’s masterpiece!

Complete with the correct matching white poly-lined inner sleeves which are both in EX condition.

GRADINGS

The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega Planar 3 turntable fitted with an Elys 2 cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. My gradings are strict and in accordance with the following descriptions:

·         MINT- Record is superb, almost like new, with just a few sleeve removal type surface marks and no deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve is near perfect in all respects.

·         EX Record is a top quality example, with just a few very light surface marks which do not sound, and barely any discernable deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve has slight wear and/or creasing.

·         VG Record has some visual surface marks, but still plays to a high standard without any major deterioration in sound quality – just a few clicks or light surface sound in places. Sleeve has normal wear and tear without any major defects. Still a very presentable sleeve.

PACKAGING & POSTAGE

Records are sent out in new “Wrapro” record mailers. These are rectangular and strong, providing excellent protection to the edges and corners. Records are removed from both inner and outer sleeves in order to prevent seam-splits in transit.
