Description

Scarce and highly acclaimed folk psych album by the group JAN and LORRAINE on the ABC RECORDS label, entitled “Gypsy People” from 1969.

This album was recorded in London, although it doesn’t seem to have secured a U.K. release.  Session musicians included Keshay Sathe (Cosmic Eye, Magic Carpet, John Martyn, etc.), Terry Cox (Pentangle, Humblebums, Sallyangie, Tudor Lodge, etc.), Clem Cattini (Brian Auger, Joe Cocker, P.J. Proby, etc.) and Brian Odgers (Sweet Tuesday, John McLaughlin, Al Stewart, etc.).  Given the extensive U.K. connections, it’s doubtful they were American.

Gatefold jacket is in nice VG+ condition.  Would grade excellent except for bumps at the corners.  Art work is clean and bright, no splits or writing.  Sticker on reverse says “Not For Sale – Promotion Copy.”   Overall a very fine jacket.  Comes with original factory printed inner sleeve with pictures of ABC albums in excellent condition.

Vinyl is very clean, appears to have been played a very small number of times and handled with care.  On Side A there is one light scratch from middle of Track 1 to middle of Track 3 that produces some softly audible tics, otherwise disc is clean.  Overall an enjoyable listening experience.   Satisfaction is guaranteed, if not happy simply return in same condition for a full refund.

Side 1 contains following songs:

  • Break Out the Wine (3:06)
  • Bird of Passage (3:54)
  • Gypsy People (5:08)
  • Foolin’ Myself (2:35)
  • Olde Tyme Movie (3:09)

Side Two contains following tunes:

  • Life’s Paradise (2:36)
  • Snow Roses (3:04)
  • The Assignment Song – Sequence (8:55)
  • Number 33 (1:40)
  • Don’t You Feel Fine (2:24)
