Live Wire/Blues Power is one of Albert King's definitive albums. Recorded live at the Fillmore Auditorium in 1968, the guitarist is at the top of his form throughout the record -- his solos are intense and piercing. The band is fine, but ultimately it's King's show -- he makes Herbie Hancock's "Watermelon Man" dirty and funky and wrings out all the emotion from "Blues at Sunrise."

When this album was released in the winter of 1968, Albert King was rubbing shoulders with the best of them, jamming on- and off stage with the Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Booker T & The MGs, Steve Miller Band, Quicksilver Mesenger Service, and a slew of others...Jimi Hendrix went out of his way to pay hosannas to The King, who was at the time riding high following the phenomenal success of his "Born under the bad sign" album. This live album captures Albert King at his prime, surrounded by the worshipping audience which simply inhales (in more ways than one) each and every note he plays. This album was recorded at a legendary Fillmore West auditorium in San Francisco, and the acoustics of the venue come through loud and clear. The sound is thick, stinging, biting, occasionally drenched in fuzz. No wonder he was one of Jimi Hendrix' main idols. A pivotal - literally and figuratively speaking - blues album, not to be missed. One of two or three defining moments of the modern, electric, urban blues. Much harder to find on the original pressing than you may think!

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  (WEAK) NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

COVER IS STRONG NEAR MINT,  STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL ►SHRINK WRAP    (A PIECE OF SHRINK WRAP IS MISSING)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine  (VISIBLE ON BACK SIDE ONLY)

-         Minor shelf wear noted on the bottom seam (nothing significant)

-         Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2   (VISIBLE ON BACK SIDE ONLY) .

-         Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-         Cover has a small, round sticker residue (small yellowish discoloration from the removed price sticker)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No split seams

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No writing

-        No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-        No peel-off marks

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No glue traces or wax residue.

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
