In the late '50s, folklorist Alan Lomax toured the South making field recordings of folk, bluegrass and blues musicians from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Mississippi Delta. In the process, he discovered Forest City Joe and Mississippi Fred McDowell. Seven albums were released individually on Atlantic Records but they were also made available in a limited-edition hard slipcase entitled Southern Folk Heritage Series. This is an amazing collection of indigenous American music. The condition of this set is excellent. Six LPs are mint; one is VG. Three of them are still sealed. The package is in fine shape except for a little fraying on the right side of the back cover slick.
