ULTRA RARE R&B JUMP BLUES ROCKER / EARLY ROCK AND ROLL PRIVATE PRESSING 45 RPM FOR SALE
AL FRANKLIN COMBO Featuring LEROY JONES - Down On The Farm / AL FRANKLIN COMBO - Nocturne In Blue 1957 (FINCH RECORDS MONO 352) ORIGINAL US PRESSING!! Ultra Rare Original Private Pressing from Cincinnati, Ohio!! Store Stock condition bought from the estate of the Label's owner, John Marshall Finch!!
John Marshall Finch was the owner of one of a small Cincinnati label known as FINCH. He was a machinist by day at the General Electric plant (in Lockland) for 34 years. Lockland is located ten miles north of Cincinnati, Ohio. At night, and on weekends, he made records at his small recording studio (also in Lockland) called FINCH Recording and Publishing Company.
His family stated that he never made much money off the records, charging the artists COST of producing them. His way of distribution around town was to stock the local Jukeboxes. Needless to say, he didn't sell many!
He made the first Albert Washington recording in 1962. Washington went on to greater fame as a soul/blues guitarist and singer. Mr. Finch also went on to record such groups as H. Bomb Ferguson And The Mad lads, The Impossibles, The Bees, The Cruisers (also featuring Leroy Jones) and The Five Chances.
One of the first recordings (maybe his first) he made was by a group called the AL FRANKLIN COMBO featuring vocal duties by Leroy Jones. Jones later became somewhat successful with HIT records providing his voice to many "hit" re-recordings of the early to mid 1960's.
The record I have up for auction is one of the best examples of Jump Blues/R&B around ... and it's a honor to know that it was recorded a few miles away from where I live!!! (PLEASE HEAR THE CLIP LISTED BELOW!!!!).
Today I purchased a few copies of the 45 listed. Two records I'm going to keep in my collection and one is up for auction as you read. This was purchased from a family member who has kept these records in safe conditions since the moment they came of the presses. We will say store stock condition even though they were never offered to the public in stores, just jukeboxes. Most of these records are worn and torched due to their handling in said Jukeboxes and such, but these have never had the needle hit the groove.
Here is your once and a lifetime chance to own a rare piece of Cincinnati music!! Rarely seen in the city, let alone the world!! Enjoy!
CONSERVATIVE GRADE: RECORD : 9 (Mint Minus) Unplayed store stock condition!! Never offered to the public for sale or distributed for Jukebox play. Stored by the family of the owner of the Finch label for close to 60 years!!! Mint Minus is due to the fact the 45's were never sealed. They were stored with the original sleeves! Some very faint storage wear seen with a 120 watt light may be visible.

MY GRADING SYSTEM IS :
I work on the 10 point grading system (see below).
There will be a blue number representing shape besides the listing/Year in blue. (Ex: 1967 7/8)
All gradings are visual and I only play records in special situations ......
10 : MINT (still sealed (LP's only) or unplayed (shown by zero spindle wear). PERFECT CONDITION!!!)
9 : NEAR MINT/M- (opened LP or slight handling wear. ALMOST PERFECT BUT NOT...)
8 : EX++ (Slight wear(ring/seam), slight paper scuffs that do not effect play and little to no spindle wear)
7 : VG++ (slight needle wear/slight scuffs/slight scratches/slight cover discoloration and or seam wear). Small seam splits starting. Some slight ticks that don't take away from the listening experience.
6 : VG+ (slight needle wear/mild scuffs/ mild scratches/ mild cover discoloration and or seam wear).
Plays with slightly noticeable ticks but still enjoyable!!)
5 : VG (Needle wear/scuffs/scratches/cover discoloration and or seam wear).
Plays with noticeable ticks but OK!!)
4 : G (OK LP. Listed as a play copy until a clean one comes)
3 : FAIR (Seam splits/heavy writing on cover/scratched and scuffed ... BUT STILL PLAYS but sound like bacon sizzling)
2 : POOR -> Really trashed (Only listed if it is super super rare and can fill a void. $500 record or more. Could be cracked but plays.)
1 : Hurts to look at (Should be thrown away or given to Goodwill. "Used for target practice"/Original owner should be ashamed!!).
These records will not be sold. They will be used for landfill.
