After an impressive last release on Not Not Fun, the concept-driven project Afterhours is back on the label with another selection of nourish beat downs laden with sonic signifiers that paint a cinematic picture in amongst driving beats and alluring melodics. The music itself lends itself to the dancefloor of any weary end-of-the-night-into-the-next-day party, with enough power to rattle the bones while woozy enough to slip comfortably into the unconscious mind. The production is impressive, from the gamelan tones of "Defragment #2" to the Mo Wax-infused funk of "Sixty-Four", touching on many different styles while creating a coherent complete release.
